Poor kid’s never going to be the same after that.
A few weeks ago, comedian Theo Von shared a now-viral interview on his This Past Weekend podcast with an Amish kid named Timothy, who is currently on Rumspringa and exploring the world outside of his native Minnesota.
Rumspringa is a rite of passage for some Amish youth, typically starting around age 16, when Amish teenagers can experience a period of increased freedom from parental and church rules, and after several years, they ultimately have to decide if they want to become “English” or return to their home and keep the Amish lifestyle they’ve grown up in.
The kid was super entertaining and earnest with his responses, and of course, Theo got a huge kick out of him… as did everyone watching.
It’s a lifestyle many of us don’t know anything about, and because the Amish don’t really use technology, there aren’t many opportunities to learn more about their life and beliefs.
But Timothy has since become a social media star, going viral as he shares his adventures in the “outside world” on TikTok through his account simply called “That Amish Dude.”
And it’s safe to say that he’s making the most of his Rumspringa, even recently going skydiving (and hilariously taking Theo’s advice to tell the instructor that he’s “not interested” and prefers girls when he’s got another dude strapped to his back).

But some of the best content comes when he’s just experiencing things for the first time that most Americans take for granted. Things like driving a Tesla, or going to Walmart, or eating Chick-fil-A for the first time.
One thing he may not have been prepared for, though, was his first trip to Hooters.
The young Amish dude recently visited the breastaurant chain for the first time, which is an experience that pretty much every dude in America has at one point or another. But coming from his Amish roots, it’s safe to say that it was quite the culture shock.
It doesn’t sound like he dined at the restaurant, and simply visited to get a t-shirt and take a look around at the…scenery, but afterwards he hilariously broke down his experience that may have permanently changed this innocent young man’s outlook on the world:
“These girls, they, it looks like they’re ready for bed and it’s like middle of the day. They should be wearing more clothes. Cause, oh my goodness. Like you can see their ankles and everything. They need to, they need to wear a dress or something, you know. Like Hooters might need to change. Maybe I need to step in there and like, show them the way how to do it right. Cause that’s not the way. Cause like they’re wearing, they’re wearing like way not enough clothes.”
But there was one thing about Hooters that impressed him: The massive…televisions.
“But like the good thing about it, they had some huge TVs in there. Like they were, they were like big.”
While he didn’t eat there, he did get a t-shirt that was signed by the Hooters girls. But he was a little confused when they signed it “XOXO,” which obviously means hugs and kisses:
“I got a shirt and everyone signed it. And they put XOXO on it. I think they did. At the time I didn’t know what it meant. I thought maybe, you know, these guys, these girls probably went to high school and they were adding ABCs to their one, two, threes. Yeah, gotta stop adding that.
Because XOXO apparently means like hugs and kisses, you know.
There were lots on the shirt, but I never got any. Like I never got any hugs and kisses, you know.”
He clarifies, though, that he wasn’t interested in any of the girls:
“But you might not want any hugs and kisses from like Hooters girls. They look like girls that you definitely want to stay away from. Cause I don’t know, we need to get them in some Amish dresses. Clothes they’re wearing is way too revealing. It looks like you’re ready for bed or something.
But they’re not.”
Well, they might be ready for bed, but if they are it’s not for sleeping…

I can’t get enough of this kid’s content. It’s just so wholesome, and he has such a sense of wonder about things that so many of us take for granted.
Keep up the good work. And stay away from the Hooters girls.
