A secret show that left fans wanting more.
Last night, Monday, October 6, Ed Sheeran and Megan Moroney surprised New Yorkers with a surprise pop-up show at Brooklyn’s KidSuper.
This pop-up show took place days after Ed Sheeran hosted a solo pop-up show in the streets of New York, trading the large crowd in the sunlight for an intimate, dimly lit room filled with people seated.
Although the two were far from Music City, they created a Bluebird Cafe-style singer/songwriter round, going back and forth from performing songs. Sheeran shared in a post after the show that the two made one rule: deep cuts only going song for song. Of course, after the two ran out of deep cuts for the fans that took in every moment of the show, they later played some of their bigger hits.
“Played a secret show with Meg Moroney tonight at KidSuper in Brooklyn. The rule was deep cuts, song for song, until the end, where we played some of our hits. I loved it so much, thank you, Megan, for your time and being up for the idea. I’m such a fan, you rock.”
Megan responded to Sheeran’s post, echoing the sentiment that it was a night to remember and expressing her gratitude for being a part of it.
“Loved every minute of tonight!!! Thank you for putting this together.”
The two stuck to their plan and performed many deep cuts, such as Moroney’s “Hair Salon,” featured on her EP, Pistol Made of Roses, and Sheeran’s “Don’t,” found on his X album.

Moroney also performed her hits, including “Am I Okay?,” “Six Months Later,” and “No Caller ID,” among others.
Ed Sheeran has done a handful of pop-up shows this year, also performing one with Noah Kahan at the famed Santa’s Pub in Nashville, and it appears that he’s starting to acclimate himself in the country space.
Is Ed Sheeran’s Country Music Era Upon Us?
Earlier this year, Sheeran shared that he hopes to make a crossover into country music one day. When he sat down with Alex Cooper for an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the four-time Grammy winner said that if he pulled up his roots and decided to plant them in Nashville, he’d want to go country. And not only that, if he went country, he’d stay there:
“I think there’s (a chance I do a country album). I guess so. From living in Nashville, you can’t just dip your toe in. If I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it, and that’s it.
I’ve made country songs in the past; they’ve just never come out. I have to do it properly, and once you transition to country, you can’t transition back. Once you’re there, you’re there.”
Sheeran has spoken about wanting to try country music on numerous occasions in the past. Being buddies with Luke Combs, he has his foot in the door, but unlike some other pop stars looking for a quick buck by making a country album, Sheeran has a deep appreciation for the genre and wants to do it right and stay there once he makes that jump. We saw how successful Post Malone’s slow rollout into country music was, and it appears that Sheeran might be modeling his crossover after him.
But the first step of making country music is moving to the USA, which appears to be in the works. The singer-songwriter joined another podcast (The 2 Johnnies Podcast) and revealed that he’s gearing up to transplant himself and his family to the United States:
“I’m just about to move to America. I feel like I might be the only person moving to America. I’m going on tour there for a while and I have a family so I can’t dip in and out. We’re going and settling there.”
Sheeran has been in New York quite a bit recently, so he might have already made the move; however, it’s reported that he still owns his home in the rural countryside of Framlingham, Suffolk, England.
