You always love to see a reunion.
It’s been somewhat of a strange start to the season for Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter. He’s capable of playing both offense (WR) and defense (CB), and did so while he was at the University of Colorado. Though he had aspirations to continue doing both full-time in the NFL, it seems as though the Jaguars are easing Hunter into his pro career, and have actually limited his usage on both sides of the ball so far.
Through five weeks of the NFL season, Travis Hunter has played more offense than he has defense… and had a couple of big plays as a wide receiver on Monday Night Football to help the Jaguars upset the Kansas City Chiefs 31 to 28.
There’s no doubt that Travis Hunter has the skills to play both sides of the ball. On the field, he’s a menace at whatever position you place him in (and the Jags are slowly but surely getting him more snaps). And off the field? Travis Hunter appears to be just the type of rookie player that any NFL team would want.
This past May, we got the truest insight into the young superstar’s personality thanks to a random woman by the name of Sandy Hawkins Combs. She apparently got seated next to Hunter on a United Airlines flight, and had no idea who he was, yet she was thoroughly impressed by the person that she interacted with.
She posted this on her Facebook page, and the story quickly went viral:
“I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver. I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying ‘Yes ma’am’ or ‘No ma’am.’ Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson – so polite.”
That’s as wholesome as it gets.
And I mentioned the Jacksonville Jaguars upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs earlier, right? Well before the game, the Jags shared that Travis Hunter and the woman he sat next to on the plane – Sandy Combs – were reunited on the field. In the video below (scroll right on the post), you’ll see the talented rookie WR/CB smiling ear-to-ear as he sees the woman that he crossed paths with shortly after he was drafted to Jacksonville.
The two laughed and spoke for a short moment before turning to the camera for a photo op. They seem to have stayed in touch since they were sat next to one another on their flight earlier in the year, and Sandy has gone full-Jags-fan to support the young man she met and went viral with.
