Football Fans Sound Off After UNC & Bill Belichick Decide To Scrap Season-Long Documentary Deal With Hulu

Is anyone actually surprised by this?

To call the University of North Carolina football program a disaster would be an understatement. The addition of the legendary (?) Bill Belichick as head coach was supposed to take UNC to new heights. Instead, the Tarheels football team has hit a new low, and Bill’s 2o25 college squad is one of the worst in the FBS.

North Carolina was embarrassed 48-10 in their season opener against TCU back on September 1, and now over a month into the season, they boast a 2-3 record with their only wins coming against Charlotte and Richmond (not exactly college football powerhouses). Against any formidable opponent? Bill and UNC have lost by double digits, and most recently lost to the Clemson Tigers 38-10.

UNC has put up 33 points against power conference opponents, and has allowed 120. In other words, things are really, really bad with the North Carolina football program.

The only silver lining was that we were supposed to all get a behind-the-scenes look at all of this unfolding. Before the season started, Bill Belichick and UNC announced that they were partnering with Hulu to give fans a “Hard Knocks-esque” look into the North Carolina Tarheels football program.

Bill Belichick said in a video shared by UNC back in August:

“I’m excited to share with you that we will be doing that with EverWonder and Hulu that will showcase our football program. This is about the UNC football program. There’s obviously a lot of interest in it, and it will stream on Hulu later this fall.

It’s gonna feature the players working hard, which you guys do. It’s about the players improving and getting better through their hard work, which you do. And a program starting from where it started from several months ago to wherever it’s gonna do during the course of the season, which, of course, we determine on the field. It’ll show our commitment to winning, it’ll show our commitment to the team, and that’s our priority.”

Just kidding! It won’t show any of those things.

That’s because it’s now being reported that North Carolina has officially decided to scrap the in-season documentary that was supposed to follow Bill Belichick’s first season as head coach at UNC. Apparently the team didn’t want to show how the program was operating during blowout losses?

The funniest part about all of this is that there is footage that most definitely exists that was being collected prior to the season starting and during the team’s first five games. Evidently, those videos won’t ever be seen since UNC decided that they no longer want any part in showcasing their losing, disaster of a football team.

And it’s really too bad… because the documentary would have absolutely done impressive streaming numbers. No one wants to tune in to a documentary that follows a successful team (has anyone really watched ESPN’s The Kingdom about the Chiefs?). Everyone wants to watch a behind-the-scenes series on a struggling football team being led by one of the greatest (?) coaches of all time… and presumably his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson.

That’s why social media is now sounding off on the docu-series’ cancellation and hitting UNC and Bill Belichick with plenty of jokes:
