Dierks Bentley Is Such A Bad Sleeper That He & His Wife, Cassidy, Are Sleeping In Separate Rooms: “Gonna Try To Move Her Back In This Year”

Dierks Bentley country music

When you’re on the road playing concerts every night, sleep is hard to come by, so this is pretty understandable…

Dierks Bentley and his wife have been married to his wife Cassidy since 2005, and they originally met in the 8th grade and after many years, eventually became husband and wife.

Dierks has been on his Broken Branches tour all summer, and of course, that means sleeping on a tour bus most nights (or not sleeping much at all, as he’d go on to explain) and being away from the comfort of your own home and your own bed. I think one of the hardest parts of being a touring musician has to be the lack of sleep… I think that would do me in more than anything else.

And it sounds like Dierks is the same way, and he revealed in a recent interview with Bobby Bones that he and Cassidy have started sleeping in separate rooms because sleep becomes such a big priority when he’s back home:

“When I do get off the road, it’s like the No. 1 priority. My wife will be like, ‘How’d you sleep last night?’ And we don’t even sleep in the same room right now anymore. We’ve moved beyond that.”

He went onto explain how they will have completely different sleeping experiences, because he has a very particular way of sleeping that he gets accustomed to out on the road,

“I’ve been thinking about this for years. I’m just even thinking about the position. I have three pillows [that] have to be positioned exactly the correct way. I’m just thinking about the process of getting to fall asleep.

And all of a sudden she’ll jerk. I’m like, ‘You got to be kidding me. You’re already out?’ Years ago I decided to separate church and state and I got rid of our bed. I’ve got two platform beds and two box springs and two mattresses.”

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do…

But Dierks admitted that Cassidy has now moved to the couch or extra bedroom to sleep, because of how difficult it’s become for them to sleep in the same bed:

“It’s terrible. She’s sleeping on the couch now… There’s an extra room we have, and she’ll go sleep in there. And even last night, we’re like, ‘We’ve got to get this back on track when I get off the road. We got to get back in the same room.'”

While Dierks’ job is certainly not conventional, I think this type of problem is something many couples can relate to, and I actually think it’s probably smarter for them to sleep separately and actually sleep, rather than tossing and turning all night and getting no real sleep at all.

The life of a wife and a touring musician, ya know…

And speaking of Dierks and his year so far, he stopped by the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast not long ago to talk about his new album Broken Branches, some of his favorite songs on the track list, the Hot Country Knights and adding humor to his music, being friends with Cross Canadian Ragweed frontman Cody Canada, having his pilot’s license, being a dad, hangover cures, sports and more.

You should definitely give that a watch or a listen below. Make sure to download the podcast on Apple Podcasts by searching “Whiskey Riff Raff” or click here.

Cheers, y’all.
