Well that’s a wild start to the NFL season.
The 2025 season kicks off tonight with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. But the Eagles are going to have to do it without one of their defensive stars after a bizarre incident before either offense even took a snap.
Immediately after the opening kickoff, the refs threw a flag and ejected Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter for the game. And upon closer review, we saw exactly why.
After the opening kickoff, and before the first offensive snap of the game, the Cowboys offense was huddled up getting ready for their first drive of the game when Carter walked up to quarterback Dak Prescott and exchanged words…and spit. As the ref walked up to separate the two, Carter could clearly be seen spitting on Prescott, leading to an immediate ejection and a big hit to the Eagles defense before the game even started.
Absolutely insane. Starting off the season with a little hawk tuah. (I can’t take credit for that joke, that one goes to my buddy Randy in our group chat).
The boneheaded move will no doubt hurt the Eagles without their best defensive player, and on their first drive the Cowboys quickly moved down the field and scored a touchdown less than four minutes into the game.
Bet Carter’s teammates aren’t too happy with him right now either…
Saquon Barkley Credits Newfound Faith For Best Season Of His Career
Looking for something to explain Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s NFL Offensive Player of the Year season? Look no further than the Big Man upstairs.
Barkley, who helped lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory in 2025, had one of best years of his career last season. And though he undoubtedly worked his you-know-what off to rush for over 2,000 yards in the regular season, Saquon is saying someone else deserves some recognition for his success.
The Lord Almighty.
To be honest, it’s been refreshing to see more and more high profile individuals be open about their faith in God. It’s a trend that fellow believers can get behind, and one that could hopefully catch the eye of those who aren’t so sure. Even other athletes like Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Hollywood star Chris Pratt have been talking about their faith more openly more and more in recent years.
Faith truly is an important cornerstone of life. I mean… you have to have a lot of faith to attempt this move on the football field:
Yeah, that’s proof that’s God is real right there, if you ask me.
Barkley spoke on his newfound faith while he was a guest on YouTube golf star Grant Horvat’s “Breaking 60” series. If you aren’t familiar with the YouTube golf space, it’s arguably as big (if not bigger) than professional golf nowadays, and Horvat is one of the most popular golfing YouTubers out there.
He and the Philadelphia Eagles star were riding around in a golf cart between shots, and their conversation about faith was caught on camera. Barkley asked Horvat if he was big in his faith, to which the golfer replied that he very much is. The YouTube golfer then turned the question around on Saquon, who shared that he too was heavily invested in his relationship with Jesus, and became a Christian rather recently:
“Yes, I just became a Christian not too long ago.”
The pair then talked about their struggles prior to finding God, and how they both seemed to finally find direction when they put faith first. Saquon listed to Horvat’s testimony, then shared that he thinks becoming a Christian led to one of his best years of his football career:
“I feel like that. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best year I had in my career, I found my faith. It gives me some clarity in life.”
How cool is it to see one of the NFL’s biggest stars being open about his faith in God?
It’s not the first time that Saquon has spoken about being a Christian. During media availability prior to the Super Bowl (which the Eagles went on to win), Barkley confessed that he wasn’t the perfect Christian by any means. But he said that he was leaning more and more each day, and thanked his agent Ed Berry – who is also a pastor – for guiding him in the right direction:
“I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I know the Bible, like, in and out. It’s something I’m learning, I’m challenging myself to get better at with my family and my friends. (I’m) really lucky to have my agent, he’s a pastor and I’m able to have Bible studies with him.
But (I’m) just growing, and I think that’s the beautiful thing about it, and I think that’s what religion and faith is, is having a relationship with God and understanding who Jesus is, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do this year. I’m going to continue to try to get better at it.”
