University of Tennessee Professor Goes Viral For Canceling Class After Taylor Swift’s Engagement: “We Need Time To Process This Information”

I mean… really? This is why countries like  Denmark and Japan are kicking our a** in education…

Yesterday, the internet was abuzz when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced they were getting married. The pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs player started dating in the summer of 2023, after Travis attended her Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July. The story goes that he had hoped to meet her backstage and give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number, but he couldn’t manage to pull it off.

He then discussed it on the aforementioned podcast with Jason, and they eventually made contact, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Taylor has been a major focal point at Kansas City Chiefs games, watching her star tight end boyfriend most Sundays, in addition to making appearances at some of their away games. She was shown on the broadcast numerous times throughout the games, and it honestly became a point of contention because many fans grew tired of seeing her… However, they’d better get used to it, because until Travis retires, they will be seeing her on their screen a lot more often.

Yesterday, the two announced they were engaged 13 days after she appeared on the New Heights podcast. 26 is also 13+13, which many fans believe is Taylor’s way of indicating that he’s her perfect match. If you know anything about Taylor Swift, you’ll notice that the number 13 holds significant meaning for her, and she often makes announcements that play off this number.

There are also some conspiracy theories circulating that he proposed right after she appeared on Travis and Jason’s podcast, because it seems that a headphone indentation is visible in her hair.

Regardless of when it happened, we hope that these two have a lifetime of happiness ahead.

After the news broke yesterday, Swifties were freaking out in all corners of the internet, but surprisingly, the non-Swifties were taking home gold when it came to hilarious comments. Out of all of the comments, the most humorous to me were those indicating that no news would seep through their engagement announcement yesterday, and it was worth pushing any announcements to tomorrow because of that.

In the same vein, one college professor took that thought even further and is going viral for canceling class due to the engagement. A University of Tennessee professor announced to his lecture hall that, instead of administering the planned exam, he would forgo it and entirely cancel class for the day.

“Hello class, as you know, we are supposed to have a biochem midterm today. But, Taylor and Travis just got engaged, due to this information, I can’t focus, you all can’t focus. Class is canceled, get out of here.

We need time to process this information.”

That one kid could not wait to get out of the room and fully jumped out of his seat before the professor was done with his announcement. Bets he didn’t study a lick for the exam?

As for the rest of the students, they were not hanging around to see if this was a joke and quickly got up and left the lecture hall.

I mean, this is a hilarious viral moment, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just an engagement. It’s not Earth-shattering. Famous folks get engaged every day, but of course, with Taylor Swift’s name attached to it, the moment becomes a much bigger deal. While these kids reaped the benefit of this “national holiday,” the rest of us were slaving away at our 9-5 jobs. Maybe I’m just a little jealous…

Anyway, check out a few of my favorite comments left on the post before you go:

“Not the runner.”

“The kid that ran is me.”

“He knows better than to schedule an exam on a national holiday.”

“I think this professor just made new Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce fans in the span of a single sentence.”

“His Rate My Professor is going to be GOOD.”

“Not all heroes wear capes.”

“The guy already running out before he’s even done talking lol.”

“Protect this man at all costs.”

“Wasn’t today the first day of school?”

“I don’t wanna hear a single Thad Brad or Chad saying a damn thing this NFL season.”

What a world we’re living in…

UPDATE

This was all staged… so, thank God. Didn’t make sense to have midterm exam in August anyways…
