Somebody’s got jokes…
Well, I’m sure it’s basic hospital protocol, but still, hilarious nonetheless.
Over the weekend, NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader Connor Zilisch suffered a broken collarbone after falling off his car in Victory Lane, an scary moment that quickly turned embarrassing for the 19-year old rookie phenom:
Now that I know I’ll be alright, it’s gonna be tough to make a comeback from this generational aura debt. Dang, at least I won😂 https://t.co/pPndMH6Cor

Yeah… it’s hard to watch. It actually hurt to watch.
But after undergoing surgery this morning, Connor shared an update that he got a plate and screws put in to help with the healing process, and all went well:
“Wanted to give everyone a quick update. Had surgery on my collarbone this morning to get a plate and screws put in to help with the healing process. It’s been a tough few days for me mentally, but the love everyone has shown me has certainly helped make things easier. I seriously appreciate it, love you all.”
Luckily the injuries weren’t any more severe, hopefully he’s now on his way to a speedy recovery. But he shared a photo of the wristband that they put on him in the hospital, and it states very plainly that he’s a “fall risk.”
Zilisch noted that it’s because he had anesthesia before surgery, but the obvious humor is certainly not lost on race fans in the comments section here:

I mean, that’s just classic… and many were pointing out that he needed to have “fall risk” added to his firesuit or car from here on out:
Name above drivers door for next race: “Fall Risk”

They’re making fun of you

It’s funny because we know he’s on the mend now, and actually, Zilisch appeared on the popular racing podcast Door Bumper Clear, where he revealed that at least one driver told him that their team’s competition director informed drivers that they were no longer allowed to stand on top of their car after a win.
While the standing on the car thing is a fun way to celebrate, it’s probably not worth the risk of falling, especially if it leads to a broken collarbone and missing out on races.
