Zac Brown’s ex-wife, Kelly Yazdi, is speaking up again.

In 2023, Zac Brown Band frontman Zac Brown and his wife, Kelly Yazdi, announced their divorce, just four months after their private Nashville ceremony. It was Brown’s second marriage, following his 12-year marriage to jewelry designer Shelly Brown, the mother of his five children, which ended in divorce in 2018.

The split between Brown and Yazdi has been a messy one, with the divorce being finalized in January. And his ex-wife has since revealed that Brown reportedly asked for a divorce over Zoom just nine days after their wedding reception. At the same time, the singer has also filed a lawsuit against Yazdi over a poem she wrote and posted to her Instagram, claiming that she was defaming him.

After a few months of no updates regarding the status of their divorce or the drama surrounding it, Kelly Yazdi posted an update on July 16th, revealing that the divorce is finalized and that Zac is still trying to tie her up with expensive lawsuits as a means to control her.

At the end of this update, Yazdi shared that they’re set to go to trial on September 15th:

“Zac has been dragging me through lawsuits for the last year and a half now. It started back in early 2024, when he tried to force me to sign a marital NDA during our divorce, which I refused. And a couple weeks later, he used our wedding video in his music video, replacing me with a look-a-like model who was engaging in inappropriate behavior. It was just… disgusting.

Then in May 2024, he filed a lawsuit against me in regard to a poem I wrote, claiming it violated my employment agreement with his company, Zac Brown Collective (ZBC). He even tried to get a temporary restraining order to silence me, which ended up being denied in federal court. Then, he sued me again, this time accusing me of “corporate espionage,” basically “Coke versus Pepsi” kind of stuff, and asking for an injunction against me. Then After a very long and very expensive discovery process, in December 2024, Zac withdrew his motion for a preliminary injunction claim — and essentially admitted there was no evidence and no damages.

Despite all of this, Zac has kept me tied up in expensive lawsuits as a means to control and intimidate me, even though our divorce was finalized in January (so just a few months ago). Why this guy won’t just leave me alone, I don’t know. This has been an incredibly difficult, expensive, and emotional journey: one that I never asked for and one that I hope no one else ever has to go through. But I have to stand up for myself, and for anyone who has ever felt controlled or silenced by someone with more power and resources.”

After Yazdi shared this news, and a few outlets (like us) picked it up, it was quickly overshadowed by the news that Zac Brown had proposed to his new girlfriend, jewelry designer Kendra Scott. The engagement was revealed by Peoplewith the couple expressing their love for each other:

“We are so happy and grateful that we found each other.”

Reports shared that the two had been dating for a few months before making their red carpet debut at the AMA Awards earlier this year. While we hope that this marriage is happy and everlasting, there is no denying that Zac Brown moved very quickly after divorcing Kelly Yazdi.

The news of Zac Brown’s engagement, Yazdi decided to share some very similar outings and things about her relationship with Brown and what he’s done with Kendra Scott since they’ve been together. I am sure that Scott might even be a little perplexed about the legal action he has taken against Yazdi, given that he has fully moved on in his new relationship and is certainly wealthy enough not to need anything from Yazdi.

In a recent post, Yazdi shared images of this comparison, saying that his new relationship is a “rinse and repeat” of her relationship with Brown.

“Every day I wake up to some carefully crafted PR story highlighting the “perfect love story,” yet I’m still being buried in legal fees and told that if I even try to tell my side of the story, that somehow I’m in the wrong…

So today, after I listened to my morning meditation, ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,’ came on and I was bitten by the creative bug. I thought about expressing myself through songwriting, but I feel like that avenue is already oversaturated. Although you’ll hear plenty of songs about me (which he’ll profit from because they are on his new album), I’m still paying attorneys’ fees because he won’t LEAVE ME ALONE.

Given the consequences of my prior poetry, I’ve decided to shift my creative pursuits into a new avenue: storytelling through imagery. I’ve named this piece ‘Rinse and Repeat’ (Part 1), organized in chronological order:

1. The Bahamas Serenade
2. The Classic Alaska fishing trip
3. Red carpet debuts
4. Having fun with the boys
7. “She’s the one.”
12. Franco Valobra’s customs creations: (Kelly’s) 5.16-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond and the 3.06-carat fancy pink diamond. (Franco is the true winner).
13. The ‘Remote’ Engagement
18. The ‘Happily Ever After’ press post
19. The Art of Regifting…. The rumor mill has it that my custom green Mercedes-Benz wedding present was actually REGIFTED and has been seen in Austin, Texas. (Note to self: make sure to put title in your name).
22. The timelines…
23. Koa

I hope you enjoyed my new creative outlet. For those that didn’t (the two haters know who they are), please encourage Zac to:
1. LEAVE ME ALONE! Drop his ridiculous lawsuit against me … ‘WITH Prejudice’…. (meaning in legalese he cannot sue me again). If he doesn’t want me to speak up, and doesn’t want this in the news, then he should drop his lawsuits and stop using his PR machine to hide the truth.
2. Reimburse me for the hundreds of thousands of dollars he’s forced me to spend on attorneys’ fees.
3. Return my stuff once and for all, and finally and most importantly,
4. Give me my puppy dog Koa back, that I named and raised (Koa means “strong” in Hawaiian). He wouldn’t give me Koa after I wouldn’t sign his marital NDA.

My creative expression has NOTHING to do with spite- I just want out of his circus. In the now immortal words of #MeganByron, ‘I am not spiraling. I am ascending.’

Lastly, “Kelly’s Legal Disclaimer”:
* None of the above images are photos from my employment.
* None of the above images include trade secrets. None include ZBC confidential business information.
* None are covered by, or breach, my ZBC employee covenants agreement.
* None contain Coca-Cola’s secret formula.”

The last legal disclaimer made me giggle. Good one there, Kelly Yazdi.

While there are still many unknowns surrounding this whole messy situation for the public, it is expected that all will come to light when the couple heads to court in September. Given that it’s an open courtroom, no details will be spared. I hope that truth prevails in that courtroom and that both parties are left feeling at peace with whatever the outcome may be.

That being said… these photos are rather uncanny:
