Livvy Dunne Was Reportedly Rejected From Buying Babe Ruth’s Former NYC Apartment Because She Posted About It On Social Media: “She Messed Up”

Livvy Dunne has gone viral after disclosing that she was about to be the new owner of Babe Ruth’s former New York residence, until the purchase of the apartment fell through because the building’s board rejected her.

“So, a few months ago, I decided I was going to make my first real estate purchase and buy an apartment in New York City. But the gag was… It was Babe Ruth’s apartment.”

Dunne revealed on Tuesday, July 8th, her plan to purchase Ruth’s $1.59 million Upper West Side pad, all in cash. She visited the place with her boyfriend, another MLB legend in the making, Paul Skenes. From the information shared in her video detailing the event, it appears that she was very close to closing when all of this unfolded.

“It got to the point where the realtor was so confident. Paul and I went and got an interior designer because I didn’t want to bring my college furniture to Babe Ruth’s apartment. That would be like criminal. 

Then the week that I’m supposed to get my brand new keys to my apartment, I get a call, the co-op board denied me.”

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model had no idea what led to this denial, but played out a few reasons that might have led to this:

“Honestly, it wasn’t financial. It could have been, for all I know, they could have been Alabama fans, and I went to LSU. Maybe they didn’t want a public figure living there, but I was literally supposed to get the keys, and that week they denied me.”

After the sale fell through, the seller’s agent from Compass spoke to the New York Post, saying that they were shocked and displeased with the co-op’s choice not to let her live in the 1915-built building.

“The managing agent got back to me days later and said the board decision was final and that was it. The seller’s real estate attorney liquidated (Dunne’s) deposit, and that was it, and we’re back on the market.”

While the board did not fully disclose why they decided against her living in the building, one resident did share that they were upset she shared it on her social media, which could have been the driving force behind her denial.

“She messed up. The board got pissed because she put it on her Instagram.”

The Instagram post in reference is a video of Dunne on the beach boasting about her apartment purchase.

The resident also shared that she saw Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes in the building ahead of the sale falling through. The resident was beyond honest, saying that she thought Dunne was a child, and not an adult capable of offering cash for the historic unit.

“I have to admit, when I saw her from behind, I didn’t think she was an adult. I thought she was a little boy. She’s so little, like a child.”

That particular resident, along with another, seemed to be pleased with the co-op board’s decision, insisting that going through a co-op is part of living in New York and that it “happens all the time.

However, another resident saw the initial story revealing her denial in the New York Post and was sad to know that she had been turned away. This was their first time learning that the social media influencer would be their neighbor, and they were excited about the possibility:

“I wish her well. Who knows why they rejected her.” 

For anyone apartment hunting in New York, with this deal falling through, it means that Ruth’s apartment is still on the market. The seventh-floor, three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom prewar residence is located at 345 W. 88th St., a building built in 1915.
