Nothing like a certified idiot showing off his battle scars.
Every once in a while, a viral video hits the internet that showcases how pent-up rage and golf courses don’t mix. Like at all. Golf is advertised as a relaxing activity that gets you outdoors and spending time with friends… but sometimes there’s nothing that angers you more than not being able to make the little white ball go where you want it to.
There are also a lot of things that can trigger someone out on the golf course. If someone brings figurative, mental baggage to the course, there’s a good chance that baggage is going to be unpacked at some point. Slow play, or holding up other groups, is one of those things that can really get the blood boiling for golfers. And when alcohol gets involved, that only adds fuel to the fire.
That appears to be the triggering event in this video out of Canada that went viral earlier this week. Some golfers were apparently taking their precious time to get through their round, and the group behind them may or may not have asked politely (I’ve got a feeling it wasn’t polite) for them to speed things up, or let them play through. At one point you hear one of the men say:
“You can’t even stand up to tee your ball up, man”
And when the camera pans over, he’s struggling pretty hard to get it on the tee.
For some reason, being called out empowered a man in a blue-patterned shirt to pick a fight… with the biggest guy in the group behind him. You’ll see in the video that the guy was yelling and clapping to get himself fired up for battle, and that really ended up working out for him in the end.
That’s sarcasm by the way.
Because not longer after he clapped and yelled, he ran at the large man who some on the internet have identified as former NHL center Nick Tarnasky, who played over 200 games in the NHL and had stints with the Panthers, Predators and the Lightning. It’s never wise to pick a fight, but it’s especially stupid to try and trade punches with someone who sort of did that for a living at one point.
You see the hockey style fighting come back to Tarnasky immediately (he grabs the guy’s shirt like he used to grab a jersey while out on the ice), and he even throws the attacking guy around multiple times. One time, he even throws the idiot into a nearby pond. It’s truly a wild video, and can be viewed at this link. If you’re a fan of that one, you’ll really enjoy the even longer version of the video that’s also surfaced. Because that’s how the internet works… a clip goes viral, and the virality uncovers an unedited and uncut version.
Now most of us thought that would be the end of the story. Guy gets drunk on golf course, accidentally picks fight with NHL player, gets tossed in pond, and then hides away for the rest of his life out of pure embarrassment. Instead, the man who got humiliated out on that Canadian golf course decided to share a photo showcasing the injuries he sustained… and that’s now gone viral online as well.
Considering how lopsided and ugly the fight was, the man who got his face bashed in (and kept coming back for more) apparently didn’t come away too bad. It appears he only suffered a black eye, and I can’t even say he’s also dealing with a bruised ego if he’s openly sharing his injury with a tongue-out picture.
Seems like he got away scot-free.
The former NHL player, on the other hand, might not be so lucky. As it turns out, Nick Tarnasky works as a U-17 coach at an organization called Red Deer Minor Hockey. His employer told TMZ that they are currently looking into the reports that the former NHL-er was the one in the video beating up on the man pictured above.
The provided this statement, saying:
“At this time, given that we understand the matter is being reviewed by local policing authorities and we are conducting our own internal investigation into the alleged incident, we will have no further comments.”
So Tarnasky might have won the battle, but the intoxicated idiot who got thrown around like a rag doll just might have won the war… against all odds.
