‘Call Her Daddy’ Host Alex Cooper Mercilessly Booed By Chicago Cubs Fans For Making A Mockery Of “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” At Wrigley Field

Take her out of the ball game.

Alex Cooper is easily one of the most successful women in podcasting. She signed a three year deal with Spotify for $60 million back in 2021, after her show Call Her Daddy blew up while with Barstool Sports.

In 2024, the show was the second most popular podcast globally, behind only Joe Rogan, and she landed a high-profile (and controversial) interview with then-Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris during the 2024 election that would later come under scrutiny when it was revealed that the campaign spent $100k to build a set in a Washington DC hotel room for the interview.

It was also announced last year that Cooper had signed a $125 million, three-year deal with SiriusXM to begin distributing Call Her Daddy in 2025, which once again made her the highest paid female podcaster and broke the record she had set herself just a few years earlier.

But while she may be one of the most successful women in podcasting, apparently she’s not very popular with Chicago Cubs fans…

Yesterday, Cooper was (for some reason) asked to sing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field. And I’m not sure whether she had too much to drink or was just trying to have fun with it or what was going on, but instead of just singing the song, she instead decided to make a complete mockery of the baseball tradition.

And as you can tell from the video, fans weren’t happy about it. Cooper was showered with boos from the Cubs diehards during her performance, and on social media people let her have it for not taking the moment seriously:

“Sammy Sosa got banned from Wrigley for 20 years. I expect this to be a 3 lifetime suspension”

“Imagine how bad this would have to be for Wrigley to BOO her while winning 11-0… but yeah she went OFFFFF alright”

“Are we serious?? That was a mockery to the sport and an embarrassment to the Cubs”

“So disrespectful. It’s most people in that stadium’s dream to sing the anthem for their team. This is what happens when someone who isn’t funny gets told they’re funny for their whole life”

“She made a complete mockery out of the song. Leading the Stretch at Wrigley is an honor, and this was insulting.”

“Any random fan at the game would have been 100x better. What a joke.”

“Such a coveted tradition of Cubs baseball should never be tarnished with those who simply don’t understand, or remember what it was like to hear Harry Caray sing that song.”

“Find you someone that loves you as much as Alex Cooper loves herself.”

The performance even drew comparisons to Ozzy Osbourne’s infamous performance during the seventh inning stretch back in 2003, but fans somehow were more upset with Alex Cooper because it seems she intended to perform it that way and Ozzy Osbourne is…well, Ozzy Osbourne.

If there was a silver lining at Wrigley last night, the Cubs beat their rivals the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0. But I have a feeling Alex Cooper won’t be asked to come back for “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” any time soon.
