WNBA Star Angel Reese Accused Of “Rebound Farming” After Grabbing Five Offensive Rebounds In One Play…. But She’s Just Bad

Angel Reese continues to stay in the headlines.

The former LSU star who now plays the forward for the Chicago Sky is currently in her second season as a professional in the WNBA. The 23-year-old was having a great year last season before she suffered a season-ending wrist injury, which sidelined her and opened up the opportunity to start her own podcast: Unapologetically Angel.

Cause everybody has a podcast nowadays…

The 2025 WNBA season got off to a hot start by pitting Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever against Reese’s Chicago Sky. Sure enough, tension between the two teams (that are currently the WNBA’s best rivalry) got high, especially when Caitlin hit Angel with a somewhat hard foul, albeit a very standard one given Reese had a wide open lane to the basket. It’s very clear that the two superstars don’t exactly like each other:

And I hate to start this conversation, but I struggle to call Angel Reese a superstar.

Saying that is somehow controversial in 2025, and I’m sure you can guess why. To be clear, I’m just making that claim based on stats alone. Both Clark and Reese are only a handful of games into the 2025 season, yet the gulf between their respective averages is fairly large.

Caitlin Clark

-19.3 points

-6.3 rebounds

-9.0 assists

-1.7 steals

Angel Reese

-7 points

-14.5 rebounds

-1 assist

-1.5 steals

Now you might be looking at Angel Reese’s rebounding and saying, “Wow, that’s a lot of rebounds. What an impressive average.” On paper, that’s definitely a large amount of boards, and crashing the boards is undoubtedly important in the game of basketball. However, when you see how Angel Reese obtains those rebounds… it’s a little less impressive.

Just last night, the Chicago Sky faced off against the New York Liberty, and this clip of an early portion of the game has gone viral. People online are basically accusing Reese of “rebound farming,” meaning that she was padding her stats (intentionally or unintentionally). It would almost be more impressive if she was doing it on purpose…

Even the announcer during the game alluded to Angel Reese’s rebounding ways:

“Angel Reese picks it up. That’s what she’s good at. Getting another offensive rebound. She says, ‘Gimme that.’ How about another? Persistence trying to pay off. Angel Reese won’t give up.”

Announcer was exhausting all of her offensive rebounding calls in one play (too afraid to actually call out the bad basketball she was watching).

And it was hilarious to watch almost every single one of Reese’s teammates call for the ball out on the 3-point line as nearly every New York opponent flooded the paint where Angel refused to either a) start making baskets or b) stop getting offensive boards. Reese eventually passed the ball out to a teammate, but not before she logged five offensive rebounds in one play.

When you count those up, her total game stats for the matchup against the New York Liberty weren’t all that impressive:

And I’ve got to say that I respect Angel Reese’s hustle. No one goes after a board like she does. No, seriously. I can’t remember seeing a player that’s so good at reading their own misses off the backboard. She’s either rebound farming, or changing the game with a style of play that’s neither efficient nor aesthetically pleasing. Regardless of what it is, it think it’s time we just say it… she’s not very good.
