Jamey Johnson Calls On Ernest To Perform Chris LeDoux’s “Look At You Girl” At His Wedding

Jamey Johnson wedding dance

Jamey Johnson has tied the knot.

Last night, the Alabama native exchanged vows with his bride, Brittney Eakins, in Tennessee, and while Jamey is a man who often keeps his personal life very private, ol’ Ern is giving fans a small glimpse into the wedding night. There’s no public timeline of his relationship with his bride, but her Facebook page shows that one of their first pictures dates back to 2020, so the two have been together for a while. In 2023, she posted a picture of a massive rock signifying they got engaged.

I can’t wait to see more images from the wedding, who knows if we will, but Ernest went on to share a video of how he was featured during the reception. Ernest was tasked with performing the couple’s first dance song, “Look At You Girl” by Chris LeDoux.

LeDoux released “Look At You Girl” in 1988. The song, penned by Lanty Ross, first appeared on his record Chris LeDoux and the Saddle Boogie Band, but he later re-released it on his 1992 record Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy. The tender love song is a deep cut from LeDoux’s catalog and makes for the perfect first dance song. The sweet lyrics highlight how deeply in love a man is with his woman and how he feels so grateful for her every time he looks at her.

“You mean everything to meAnd I’d do anything to have you stay foreverI’m an ordinary manBut I feel like I could do anything in the worldWhen I look at you, girl”

In the initial video that Ern posted of his cover of the tune, he admitted that singing this song was one of the most nerve-racking moments of his career.

“I have played some nerve-racking moments. But singing the first dance song for Jamey Johnson takes the (wedding) cake.”

He follow it up by sharing the request from Jamey, who confessed that Ernest was the only person he knew who would appreciate the tradition of that song:

The short video was quickly flooded with comments from his followers wanting him to share the entire video of their first dance and the song. Ask and you shall receive, because Ernest then shared the whole performance and first dance. The video, seemingly caught from the venue’s balcony, shows Johnson and his bride tenderly swaying back and forth to the beautiful acoustic performance.

Before Ern sings the last line of the chorus, Johnson dips his bride, and the crowd goes wild.

I’m not going to lie… watching this brought a few tears to my eyes. Ernest crushed this cover, delivering the heartfelt lyrics flawlessly. The music paired with the newlyweds dancing makes for a magical moment.

Cheers to the Johnsons.
