You’ve likely heard the phrase “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” If this Belgrade, Montana man hadn’t, he certainly became aware of it when he climbed up the famous elk antler arches in Jackson, Wyoming.
According to Cowboy State Daily, Lt. Russ Ruschill of the Jackson Police Department stated that in the early morning hours of May 13, the Teton County Dispatch got a call from a concerned citizen that there were individuals climbing all over and on top of the arches. An officer was sent to the Jackson Town Square to investigate, and sure enough, there was a man climbing on the antler archway in the southwest corner of the park. The responding officer handed over a $100 ticket to the man.
As to why the guy dangerously chose to climb on the antler arches? Well, funny enough, he told the officer that he had “been drinking and wanted to climb the arch to impress some girls he had just met.”
Classic dude move… and his idiotic, trying-to-get-the-girl act even landed him on the “Tourons of Yellowstone” Instagram account:

Jackson Police Department Lt. Russ Ruschill revealed that he and the other officers in Wyoming typically catch people before they get too far in the act of climbing… but this Montana man was evidently a different breed:
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody quite get up as far onto the top like this gentleman. We usually catch them thinking about it, talking about it or just starting to climb. From the photos I saw on Instagram, this guy has made his way to the very top of the arch.”
One of the girls he was trying to impress even joined in on the climbing at one point, though she wasn’t on the antlers when the officer arrived.
And in case you are wondering, it’s most definitely against the law to climb the antler arches located in the Jackson court square. The Montana man was truly breaking barriers… in a bad way. Now, that man that was hit with the $100 citation, he can either pay the Benjamin bond or plead that he’s innocent. I’m not sure how that would work out, considering an officer caught him in the act of climbing (and the photos are now posted all over the web).
All that the Jackson Police was trying to do was keep everyone safe. They can’t have people climbing all over the antler arches, because someone could seriously injure themselves. It’s a long way down if some drunk bozo topples off the top of the arch.
