No love lost here.
The 60th Annual ACM Awards took place tonight in Frisco, Texas, and some of mainstream country music’s biggest stars were in attendance, with Lainey Wilson once again taking home the coveted Entertainer of the Year award.
But there was one huge star, the biggest, if we’re talking sheer numbers, streams and hits, filling stadiums… in Morgan Wallen, who did not attend the show. Wallen was one of the most nominated artists of the evening, including being up for EOTY once again.
Instead of being in Texas, Morgan was golfing with Tom Brady… so I’d say there’s no doubt he was having way more fun than anyone inside that building. And it’s a good thing he wasn’t there, because he would’ve left empty handed. Morgan did not win one single award, which is simply ridiculous considering he’s a megastar and a huge part of the reason country has become so wildly popular over the last couple years. Whether you like his music or not, for him to leave empty-handed, based on their own criteria, is pretty insane. But these awards don’t really mean anything, so I guess it really doesn’t matter… especially to him.
I’m not a Morgan fan girl by any means, but out of sheer fairness, it seems wrong to continually snub the biggest artist in country year after year, and so it’s easy to see why he never attends… Luke Combs was notably absent, as well, and did not win an award tonight either, which is even more crazy. What is it saying about your show when THE biggest acts in the business don’t even show up?
It’s clear that Morgan is fine snubbing the ACMs, and vice versa… but of course, Morgan’s fans were rightfully upset with the fact that he didn’t win one single award, and they let their opinions be known online:
