Tom Brady Says It Was A Mistake To Do The Netflix Roast: “What Was The Point Of That?”

It was hilarious, that was the point.

Last year’s Roast Of Tom Brady of the best pieces of content Netflix has put out in years. The live roast was hosted by Kevin Hart and featured guests like Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski, Tony Hinchcliffe, Andrew Schultz, and a ton of others roasting the crap out of the legendary quarterback.

The roasters took aim at everything from his divorce from Gisele Bundchen to his role in the Deflategate scandal during his time with the New England Patriots. And they held nothing back.

One of the most shocking moments of the night came when former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman took his turn and mentioned his former teammate (and ladies man) Rob Gronkowski – along with another infamous former New England Patriot:

“Everyone always asks me how big Gronk’s d**k is.

Now don’t get me wrong, it gets the job done. But there was this other Patriots tight end. Now HE was hung.”

And there were some tense moments too, like when comedian Jeff Ross referenced Patriots owner Bob Kraft’s prostitution scandal and Brady quickly stood up to shut him down:

Overall it was pretty hilarious, and like I said, it was one of the best things Netflix has done in a long time because nothing was off limits and it didn’t feel like the guests were pulling any punches or trying to be politically correct. It was refreshing in this day and age.

But apparently Brady doesn’t feel the same way.

During an appearance on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, Brady was asked about the roast and admitted that in hindsight, he regrets doing it in the first place:

“I regret that my kids had to – it was tough on my kids, for sure.”

Brady says he wasn’t personally offended by the jokes, and even compares it to being back in the football locker room:

“You don’t know what to expect. And I love laughing at myself. It felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I actually love it. It’s just like, if people make fun of you then I know that I’m good with them.

And like I said earlier, I don’t take myself too serious.”

But the quarterback says that he realized afterwards that it was a mistake to do it when he realized that it hurt his kids:

“There are some things that as a parent you f*** up and you don’t realize until after. We’re not perfect parents, and you’ll see as you grow up, there’s no perfect manual for it. You gotta evaluate yourself as a parent too all the time.

Even though I really enjoyed the show, and the performances were incredible, and when you were in that moment in that theater that night at The Forum, it was electric. It was crazy.

We got done, everybody was on cloud 9, and I think that moment I’ll never forget.

And then I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day and I felt like a stake through the heart. And understandably, because they’re protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody. They’re just, ‘What was the point of that? Why did you do that?’

So it’s just, you live and you learn.”

I mean, I get that his kids probably weren’t fans of seeing their dad roasted like that. Brady is the father of four children: 17-year old Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan, and 15-year old Benjamin and 12-year old Vivian, who he shares with Budchen. But at the same time, either your kids are old enough to know what’s going on and understand that it’s all in fun or they probably shouldn’t be watching the roast to begin with.

Either way, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting part 2 of the Tom Brady roast any time soon.
