New music coming in hot from the Prosper, Texas native.
Tanner Usrey has been in the studio cooking up new music with the legendary producer Dave Cobb. Earlier this year, Tanner Usrey released the compelling single “These Days,” which details the demons and struggles that can race through our minds, counting “These Days” as a win, even though they might be your own personal hell.
“These Days” has now been named the title single for Usrey’s forthcoming record, which is slated for release on July 11th via Atlantic Records. Yesterday, Usrey officially announced his record across social media channels, along with announcing a new single, “Don’t Let Go (Hold Me Close).”
Recorded between Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A and Cobb’s Georgia Mae Studio in Savannah, this upcoming record is set to showcase some of Usrey’s most vulnerable work as he opens up about mental health struggles, the highs and lows of relationships, and his own self-reflections across the 10-song tracklist.
Usrey opened up about the process of making this record, noting he’s really leaning into the sound he’s curated over the last few years, and with the help of Cobb, it’s work that he’s very proud of.
“Ever since I started recording music, I’ve wanted to make a record with Dave Cobb. He’s done some of my favorite albums by huge influences of mine like Whiskey Myers, Chris Stapleton, and of course Jason Isbell. Getting to see how Dave’s mind works and building this album with him was such a great experience, to say the least.
I think this album captures the sound that I’ve been going for since I started, and really pushes my voice in a way that I haven’t before, which makes the band and I that much more excited to play it live.”
Today, Usrey is previewing what’s in store for the record with a new single, “Don’t Let Go (Hold Me Close).” A few weeks ago, I witnessed Usrey bring this song to the Two Step Inn stage, and was instantly captivated by the lyrics. The sound embodies his southern rock and roll style as the melody builds throughout the song, leading listeners to a roaring chorus by the end.

The studio cut of this song is just as impressive as it was on that Georgetown, Texas, stage. The single rips, and you will quickly find yourself listening to it on repeat. Tanner Usrey is not slowing down any time soon, and “These Days” combined with “Don’t Let Go (Hold Me Close)” is a strong preview for what’s in store for this album.
