“Riley Turkman” – Riley Green Bags A Turkey On Day Off

Riley Duckman

Bagging birds.

A day off does not come often when you are a touring musician, but when you do have a second off the road, you have to fill those days doing what you love. While most musicians admit that they like being at home, lying in their bed, or cooking a comfort meal, if you’re an avid hunter, a day off means hitting the woods.

Riley Green is an avid outdoorsman, and you can find him in a tree stand the second he’s off the road. During deer season, Green bagged some stunning bucks on his farm in Kansas:

And now that it’s spring turkey season, he’s getting his fill while he can. Green is currently on a break from his Damn Country Music Tour, before they hit the road again in May.

During his time off, Green has been in the woods, bagging some big birds:

“This what happens when they finally give ya boy a day off during turkey season…”

Green shows off his trophy in a recent Instagram post, which appears to be on his farm in Alabama. Next to the large turkey is his prized hunting dog, Carl the Cowboy Corgi.

Let’s be honest, the bird is a beauty, but Carl is the real star of this post.

Fans quickly began commenting on the post, congratulating Green on his hunt, and, of course, some women wished that Green was posing with them instead of a turkey.

“Wish I were that turkey (not dead, just thrown over your shoulder like that).”

“He met you in the worst way.”

“You can dress it and I will season and cook it for ya.”

“Not gonna lie, just here for the comments. I’m intrigued to see how many women take up turkey hunting now.”

“Carl is the best feature in these photos.”

“Good looking spot RG!!”

“Riley Turkman.”

“Atta boy. Turkey for Easter dinner.”

Growing up on a farm, Riley Green has a great appreciation for land and how it can serve you. Because of this upbringing, Riley Green has a passion for buying land, including the piece of land he grew up on as a kid.

Green once said on the Like A Farmer podcast that he’s passionate about land and keeping it rural to preserve its history.

“Well, I know how fortunate I was to have this kind of property to run around on as a kid, even though it was just family land. I don’t want to see this place change. I mean, obviously, being in Nashville probably motivates me more than ever for that because there are five cranes running at all times, building another high rise.

You lose a lot of history. I think there are even a lot of places on Music Row that have been torn down to build a condo or whatever that is.

Obviously, I don’t think that will ever happen here, but I don’t even want to see it start popping up with Dollar Generals, you know. I want it to look like it did when I was a kid. When I go somewhere and sit down, you know, on that tree stump or down by the lake or whatever, it reminds me of when my grandaddy and me were doing this or that. And I think that’s what’s so special about this place to me.”

Green preserving the land also ensures that he always has a prime hunting spot.
