Leon Majcen & Sam Stoane Team Up For Heartfelt Duet, “Right Love, Wrong Time”

Leon Majcen

Leon Majcen is on to something here.

With his third album Better Days set for release on April 25, the Clearwater, FL native has amassed an impressive catalog of original music since he released his debut record in 2020. A country/folk artist with a laid back, Gulf Coast sound, Majcen is a talented songwriter and avid outdoorsman observant of the world around him, and his lyricism continues to prove he is wise beyond his years.

With songs that often paint a picture using imagery and descriptive lyricism, and others that evoke emotions through relatable accounts of relationships and interactions, Majcen draws inspiration from some of the greatest songwriters to ever put pen to paper with artists like John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, and Guy Clark, among others. His latest single, released this past weekend, is yet another song that adds to his songwriting prowess.

Titled “Right Love, Wrong Time,” the seventh single off of his forthcoming record is a love song of sorts that, as the title suggests, reflects on a connection between two individuals that falls victim to circumstance and timing. Co-written alongside Austin Plaine and Sam Stoane, the latter of whom is also featured on the track providing vocals and harmonies, “Right Love, Wrong Time” is proof that Leon Majcen is a rising star in the country music scene.

Give it a listen for yourself here:

“In my time abandoned
The seven wonders never held a candle
To your lonesome eyes
I still think of you
When the mountains crumble
When the night turns blue
And the redbird cries”

As many artists have done lately, Majcen has essentially released the entire album already through singles, with only the 8th track still left to be released.

Check out a few favorites released so far:

“Blue Sky”

“Grey Hairs on Momma’s Head”

“Distant Roads”

“It Won’t Be Long”

With seven originals, Better Days is undoubtedly a showcase of Majcen’s songwriting prowess, but “I’ll Be Here In The Morning” is a cover of an iconic love song by one his songwriting heroes and one of the most underrated artists of all time, Townes Van Zandt.

Check out the original version here in case you are not already familiar:

“Well there’s a lot of things along the road I’d surely like to see
I’d like to lean into the wind and tell myself I’m free
But your softest whisper’s louder than the highway’s call to me”
