Bunnie Xo Opens Up On Difficulty Of IVF Journey Following Egg Retrieval Procedure: “These Women Are Just Straight-Up Soldiers”

Bunnie XO

Bunnie Xo is getting honest about the struggles of her IVF journey.

In case you are new here, Bunnie Xo and her husband, Jelly Roll, have candidly shared with the world that they are hoping to have a child together. While Bunnie Xo is highly involved in the lives of Jelly Roll’s two children from previous relationships, the couple has decided that they want a child who shares their DNA.

For a long time, Bunnie and Jelly were going to keep this journey private, but they decided to open up about it after Jelly Roll noted that wanting to have a child was a major motivator for him to lose weight.

“My wife and I are talking about having a baby. And it really made me realize, at almost 40, I was like, that means I got to live to at least 60. I got to see this kid into college.”

After Jelly Roll spoke out, Bunnie has sprinkled IVF updates throughout her content, like when she shared that she was in the thick of her journey in a post about never having Casey Anthony as a podcast guest.

“I’m literally going through IVF treatment right now, the hormones, the shots, all of that, going through all of the emotions, the rollercoaster, the worry. Just so that I can have a little piece of my husband and me, just a little piece, wrapped in skin, just to add to the other two beautiful children we have together.”

More recently, Bunnie has been sharing updates when she sits down to record her podcast episodes, too. After completing her IVF stims, Bunnie Xo shared a video of herself during her egg retrieval procedure, captioning the post, “We’re making babies.” In the video, Bunnie shows herself coming out of anesthesia, and her commentary is hilarious.

“I’m not gonna lie, I love Propofol. That’s good sh*t. I’m f**kin’ high as hell. I’m so thankful, praise Jesus.”

Bunnie says in her comatose state that she is thankful that the procedure went well, and in traditional Bunnie Xo fashion, she had to ask something out of pocket, too.

“Did I poop on the Dr.?”

While the video seemed to show that everything went smoothly during the procedure, Bunnie recently revealed that this was not entirely true. On the most recent Dumb Blonde episode, she gave fans an update, filling them in on what’s happened since the retrieval.

“So last time we had a podcast, I gave y’all an update all the way up to the egg retrieval. I do have some news for you guys after the egg retrieval. I would just like to let you guys know that it f**king sucked.

I think I ended up with a mild case of OHSS, and I’m sorry, but the women who get the severe cases of that, holy frekaing moly.”

Her friends then ask what OHSS is, and Bunnie explains that because your body gets overstimulated, your body can start filling up with fluid. The fluid can then go into your lungs, and some women have to get it drained. Bunnie shares that her stomach was severely distended after the procedure, and it was very painful after the fact.

But, nearly two weeks after the operation, she says she does feel much better.

“I’m a little over two weeks out now, and I’m feeling so much better… Like everybody said like, ‘Oh, the stims is the hardest part,’ and blah, blah, blah, blah. And like the stims for me was so easy. And everybody’s like, ‘Oh, the egg retrieval is a breeze. After two days, you’re gonna be recovered and feeling great.’ No. No, no. No sir. I was not.

Like day 11 I was concerned, I messaged my clinic and was like, ‘Hello, not only have I gained 6 pounds on this sh*t. When does that start coming off? And secondly, why am I in so much pain?’ I took pictures I looked like I was four months pregnant.”

Bunnie then says that the hormones have caused her body to be out of whack, and then commends the women who do two IVF cycles back to back, because it is not for the weak.

“The women who do this IVF journey are a different breed. It’s crazy, like these women are just straight-up soldiers, man. And I get it, they are on a mission for a goal. But… how bad do I want that goal? You know, like I don’t know if I’m built like them. Maybe that’s why I don’t have kids, because I’m not built like them. I can’t f**king do it, man. But we are back on track.”

We are so glad Bunnie Xo is feeling better and hope this journey leads them to having their own bundle of joy.

As always, I commend Bunnie Xo for being so vulnerable and sharing this journey with the world. As a woman, it’s not always fun to talk about fertility, and you can often feel alone when trying to conceive, so her story not only lets women know they are not alone but also shines light on the steps of IVF if that’s an option you are considering.

Bunnie Xo has always been and always will be one of the rawest and honest creators out there.

If you want to hear the full update for yourself, she talks about it in the first five minutes of the podcast.
