NOT SANTA’S!
Nashville is getting hit hard with heavy rain, leading to flash flooding. Over the last two nights, massive storms and tornado warnings hit Middle Tennessee, and the severe storms are expected to continue through the end of the weekend.
According to The Tennesseean, Nashville is expected to receive 5-6 inches of rain by the end of the weekend, while Clarksville is expected to get 8-10 inches. Because of the massive amounts of rain in a short period of time, flash flooding has filled Tennessee. Video footage shows parking lots turned into ponds with cars almost entirely underwater.
Water rushed through the neighborhood of Green Hills from overflowing creeks, filling front yards. It looked like a disaster.

However, one part of town that’s left Nashvillians heartbroken is seeing the beloved dive bar, Santa’s Pub, affected by the flooding in Berry Hill. Santa’s Pub is the ultimate dive bar and karaoke bar. It is made of a double-wide trailer. The bar is cash only, and there is no hard liquor, just beer and seltzers.
It’s a dive bar enthusiast’s dream.
Owned by Denzel Irwin, who has 18 grandchildren who call him Santa, this bar is a labor of love for him. He’s poured his soul into making it a safe and fun bar environment:
“There’s no cussing at Santa’s. You respect women, or find another bar. I’m an ole’ country boy, that’s the way it is.”
And there’s a reason he chose only to serve beer: To keep the number of fights down and the bar crowd smiling.
“Beer only, you peel out and go to the Waffle House, whiskey, you’re 10 feet tall and bulletproof, there’s never been a fight here. Beer, you get sleepy and hungry before you want to fight.”
While it’s unknown if the inside of the bar had any damage from the flooding, a short video showing how much rainfall Nashville received by a TikTok user showed that water went right up to the steps leading up to the bar’s porch. Unfortnely, this part of town is known for flooding frequently, but that does not make it any less heartbreaking.
Santa’s Pub is a huge part of Nashville’s history. It opened its doors in 2011 and has had a cult following since then, so bar patrons were heartbroken to see the water taking over the bar’s parking lot.

Hopefully, the bar did not have significant damage inside, and thankfully, this flash flooding was not as bad as the horrific 2010 flooding. If Nashville can bounce back from that, it can also bounce back from this flash flooding.
