The next song from I’m The Problem.
Morgan Wallen teased a new unreleased tune on Instagram earlier called “Come Back As A Redneck,” which is rumored to feature his friend Hardy, though that was not confirmed in this clip and we only heard Morgan’s voice on a verse and the chorus. It’s very much in his wheelhouse in terms of the lyrical content around loving being a country boy and city people not understanding, and I’d imagine he plans to release it sometime soon if he’s putting out teasers:
“When you die, I hope you come back as a redneck
I hope it sticks on you like a hell-hot sun tattoo
I hope you break your back for that barely-get-by paycheck
And when you can’t, you gotta go and bloody up a buck or two
Catch the Holy Ghost on a pine wood bench
Drive across the county just to hook up a winch
Revel in the pride of a simple man
Maybe thеn you’ll understand”
The video on Morgan’s social media also featured him shooting guns and riding around the woods, and you can listen to it here:
Of course, Morgan has made a TON of headlines over the last several days following his gig as the musical guest at SNL, where he made an abrupt exit from the stage at the end of the show, which sources say was a misunderstanding between Wallen and the show, though fans in the audience say it might’ve been more personal.
It’s kind of been blown out of proportion in my humble opinion, and has taken away from what was the real intent of getting him on the long-running show in promoting his forthcoming aforementioned album. During performance of “Just In Case,” he shared some of the song titles from the whopping 37-song tracklist on a TV behind him.
Here’s what flashed across the TV’s screen (listed in the order in which they appeared), including “Come Back As A Redneck”:
2: I Got Better
4: What I Want (feat. _)
8: Skoal, Chevy, and Browning
14: Where’d That Girl Go
15: Genesis
21: Come Back as a Redneck (feat. _)
34: LA Night
35: Miami
Regardless of what happened on SNL, Morgan is gearing up for a huge album release and subsequent stadium tour, and the new album is already shaping up to be a huge, record-breaking success, just like the last couple he’s put out.
