Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, fans of all ages… Welcome to Opening Day.
Baseball is back starting today (well, excluding that weird Tokyo Series…) and I’m absolutely fired up. It’s World Series or bust for my Philadelphia Phillies this year so my nerves are already tingling and we haven’t even played a game yet. It might just be the pump-up video the team posted earlier today that’s got me feeling all buzzy:

If you could just excuse me for one second, I have to go scream at the top of my lungs.
I’m headed to the Phils versus Nationals game this Sunday and apart from the beers and hot dogs that will be liberally consumed, I’m excited for the walk up songs.
Is that a weird thing to get excited for? Absolutely, I’ll give you that but baseball fans (and some non-fans who couldn’t avoid the video online) probably remember this iconic moment a few years back when Bryson Stott walked to the plate and the entire stadium sang along to “A-O-K” before he slugged a grand slam on the very first pitch.
I get chills every single time I watch it… Baseball is just so beautiful.
Even before country music became the cool kid on the block, baseball players have always had an affinity for the genre. Probably something about the Americana aspect of both but regardless, every time you’re at the park you’re bound to hear a few country songs and definitely some Morgan Wallen.
Before we get to the music, be sure you’re buying tickets through Vivid Seats for all your games this year. They give you a free ticket for every 10 you buy, and if you plan on going to a couple games that’ll add up quickly.
Last year, we put together a list of the 10 best country walk-up songs that were being used. Here’s a quick rundown:
10. Pete Alonso, New York Mets: “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” – Travis Tritt
9. Bryce Miller, Seattle Mariners: “Bury My Bones” – Whiskey Myers
8. Reid Detmers, Los Angeles Angels: “Welcome To The Show” – Cody Johnson
7. Aaron Bummer, Atlanta Braves: “Nine Ball” – Zach Bryan
6. Daniel Bard, Colorado Rockies: “Nothing Holds Me Down” – Ryan Bingham
5. Garrett Cleavinger, Tampa Bay Rays: “Gin, Smoke, Lies” – Turnpike Troubadours
4. Will Vest, Detroit Tigers: “Cue Country Roads” – Charles Wesley Godwin
3. J.B. Bukauskas, Milwaukee Brewers: “Sleeping On The Blacktop” – Colter Wall
2. Justin Steele, Chicago Cubs: “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” – Johnny Cash
1. David Fry, Cleveland Guardians: “Loud And Heavy” – Cody Jinks
Honorable mention for Bryce Harper using “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” but it was part of a rotation so can’t fully count it…
This year, I wanted to do something different and give some MLB players a few suggestions for songs they can start walking to the plate too, because of course I’m the go-to source of information for big leaguers everywhere.
Get fired up for the season with these great songs and some new gear from MLB Shop. You never know what you’re going to find on there (“Tetas” Rangers hats anyone?) so go give it a look.
In no order, here’s some songs I really wish to hear before someone smacks a dinger in 2025:
“Snowed In” – The Droptines
“Cuckoo” – Stephen Wilson Jr.
“Lonesome Drifter” – Charley Crockett
“Mamas Broken Heart” – Miranda Lambert
“Till The Morning” – Benjamin Dakota Rogers
“Bar Song” – Koe Wetzel
“Messed Up Kid” – Dexter & the Moonrocks
“You Look Like You Love Me” – Ella Langley ft. Riley Green
“Me On You” – Muscadine Bloodline
“Plastic Horses” – Colby Acuff
