Billy Ray Cyrus is gushing over his daughters… but not his son.
Cyrus’ start to 2025 has not been the most glowing. He kicked things off with a disastrous Inaugural Ball performance that appeared to end with him being escorted off the stage.

But Cyrus had no remorse for the embarrassing moment, and released a statement following the performance, noting “that’s called rock & roll!” and then announcing a new record shortly after. Billy Ray Cyrus did not seem to think that his disheveled state during the Inaugural Ball performance was one to be concerned about, but his son disagreed. Trace, the son of Billy Ray’s ex-wife Tish Cyrus, said he has pushed his family, and they have been “genuinely worried” about him for years. Trace added that everyone, except for Billy Ray, seems to recognize that he needs help.
In a portion of the lengthy letter, Trace hinted that Miley and Noah feel the same way toward their father, desperately wanting him to seek help to mend their broken relationships.
“Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though.”
Even with Trace’s emotional public letter begging his father to seek help, Billy Ray Cyrus later shared that he’s praying for his family and hopes for healing.
Since then, Billy Ray Cyrus has laid low in the public eye and stayed focused on his music. However, his new music has not been well-received among fans. His most recent track, “Ask,” left fans confused and questioning where the talent of the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer had gone.

I’m going out on a limb, guessing that Cyrus has not received the help his family begged him to seek. But while his new single is flopping, other members of the Cyrus family are crushing the music scene, with Miley and Noah putting out stellar new music. Miley has been teasing her recently announced record, Something Beautiful, and Noah recently released a track titled “Don’t Put It All on Me.”
In their father’s post, Billy Ray took stills from his daughters’ projects and gushed about his pride in them.
“Holy sh*t. I seldom ever swear in my post but this deserves one! You are witnessing in real time what it feels like for a Dad who with in less than one weeks time has had his ass kicked and his mind blown by not one …but two of his own daughters, Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus.
Flesh and blood … completely taking their art to a whole new level. Congratulations girls! Well done. I’m so damn proud of both of you. I’m actually crying as I write this. Thank God you can’t see me. Have fun now and be happy!

This public statement might be a step toward mending his relationship with his daughters… or at least him trying to mend it. The Cyrus family is full of talent, and he should boast about his daughters’ work. You have to hope that Billy Ray Cyrus is on the track to healing and is more in touch with his family after their public cries for help. It might be a too little, to late, or come off as phony and insincere for the Cyrus girls, but only time will tell.
Then again, we all know Billy isn’t exactly the most talented person int he family… he’s basically built a career on one guilty pleasure song. And no shade, “Achy Breaky Heart” is a JAM.
