Kid Rock Says He’s Working On A Gospel Record With Rick Rubin: “In The Early Beginnings”

Kid Rock
Real Time with Bill Maher

Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy, said the boogie, said up drop the… Gospel album?

On a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Kid Rock confessed that he actually had a Gospels project in the works, and better yet, one produced by the great Rick Rubin:

“In the early beginnings now, doing a Gospel record with my old friend Rick Rubin.”

He added that Rick and him had worked previously together on his country Born Free record.

Of course, we all know Kid Rock’s music isn’t what you’d expect to hear in church, and Bill even pressed him on that, saying that a song like “Lowlife” would never be found in a Sunday service.

“You know, I know the Ten Commandments pretty well. And in those Commandments I have never once seen or even heard a thought one being ‘Thou shalt not swear.'”

True, but… ah, you know what, I won’t get into it…

I will say however, I am fairly intrigued at what Bob and Rick can come up with in the studio. Are we talking old hymns like “Amazing Grace”? Contemporary worship songs like “Reckless Love”? Or is Kid Rock gonna put the pen to paper, dig deep into that soul of his, and write some originals? I guess only time will tell.

Rock The South

Dubbed “The Biggest Party in the South,” Rock The South manages to produce a better lineup every single year, bringing the perfect blend of country legends with the fresh faces of the genre—and this year is no exception. They pulled out all the stops, and even upped the ante with some rock and roll flavor.

Your 2025 headliners are Hank Williams Jr., Kid Rock, and Nickelback in addition to a long list of supporting acts such as Treaty Oak Revival, Gavin Adcock, Ty Myers, Hudson Westbrook, Shenandoah, Ole 60, Them Dirty Roses, and more are also scheduled to perform.

“The lineup for Pepsi Rock the South 2025 is here and it’s STACKED. Kid Rock, Nickelback, Hank Williams Jr., and more are bringing the chaos to Cullman, Alabama. Mark your calendars for June 19-21—it’s gonna be one helluva ride.”

The festival will occur in Cullman, Alabama, from June 19th to the 21st.

But the party is going beyond the state of Alabama…

Rock The Country, which travels to ten small towns and puts on ten massive shows, has a lineup that will also certainly draw a crowd. With Lynyrd Skynyrd added as a headliner, along with the aforementioned Rock The South headliners, Rock the Country also has a few of the same faces for support as well.

Other artists set to appear at Rock the Country include Gavin Adcock, Ella Langley, Travis Tritt, Aaron Lewis, Tracy Lawrence, Treaty Oak Revival, Big & Rich, Ole 60, Jo Dee Messina, and many more.

“Y’all ready for this? The Rock the Country 2025 lineup is here, and it’s stacked with the baddest in the business. Gear up for a festival that’s gonna be bigger, bolder, and more bada** than ever before.”
