The pop/country crossover continues.

There has been absolutely NO shortage of pretty massive artists outside of the country genre who have gotten in on it, so to speak, in the last year or so, which includes international superstars in Post Malone and Beyoncé. In fact, Beyoncé even won several Grammy awards for her Cowboy Carter album earlier this month. Country music is as popular as it has ever been in the mainstream and pop world, and we’ve seen tons of crossover with some of the biggest mainstream Top 40 acts doing it right now teaming some of country’s biggest stars, like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, who both had #1 radio hits with Post.

Unfortunately though, these crossovers usually end up being pretty shallow and leave a lot more to be desired… so I’m going to hold your hand, metaphorically, when I tell you that we have another incredibly famous pop starlet headed to country radio.

And that would be Miss Sabrina Carpenter, who recently collaborated with the legendary country queen herself, Mrs. Dolly Parton, on a remixed version of her hit song “Please Please Please,” which was featured on the deluxe addition of Sabrina’s Short n’ Sweet album that was released a couple weeks ago. I’m sure you’ve heard the original somewhere lately, because I feel like it’s played constantly, and Sabrina has become an international pop sensation who is massively popular in mainstream music.

“Please Please Please” was written by Sabrina along with producer Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen (who wrote on Koe Wetzel’s most recent album, 9 Lives). The song became her first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and also topped the charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

Sabrina rightfully won Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards on a couple weeks ago for it, and she wanted to release the deluxe addition as a “thank you” to fans for helping her make the record so successful. I’m actually a pretty big fan of her music, so I don’t hate this the way I think many will, and I enjoyed the song for what it was in terms of the remixed version.

According to Billboard, “Please Please Please ft. Dolly Parton” officially impacted US Country Radio on February 17th:

It just debuted on at #17 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, after drawing 6.3 million official U.S. streams and selling 2,000 downloads in its first week, according to Luminate data. This marks Dolly’s 76th top 20 Hot Country Songs hits, and you obviously don’t need me to tell you how impressive it is that she continues to achieve things like this in addition to running a foundation, launching product lines and putting out her own music at the very young age of 79 years.

Both versions of “Please Please Please” already got the full music video treatment, with the second one finding Dolly and Sabrina driving down the road in a vintage truck, looking absolutely stunning… but they’ve got a mission they’re on too. In the original video, Sabrina’s ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan (the less hot one from the crazy movie Saltburn, if you saw that), but this time, well, let’s just say it didn’t end so well for him…

They went full on Dixie Chicks in “Goodbye Earl,” and it’s pretty cheeky and fun, like everything Sabrina does. You can watch the video below, and it’s pretty cute… even though some of Sabrina’s fans were quick to criticize Dolly. I mean, how disgusting is it that we’ve now reached a generation who has no respect for the Queen? That was my main take away from all of this Dolly hate, honestly… kids these days don’t even know who Dolly Parton is.
