Comments not begging Riley Green’s appearance? How refreshing.
Riley Green just shared a snippet of a new one with fans , once again proving that he does not miss. Green sat down in his home to strum a song he said he had just finished, which was titled “Make It Rain.”
“Song I just wrote called…’Make It Rain.’ Hope y’all like it.”
“Make It Rain” is a strong start to what’s in store for Riley Green this year. It is also a stellar continuation of music from his 2024 record, Don’t Mind If I Do.
The heartbreak track details the lyrics of a narrator who has done wrong in a relationship, severely hurting a woman he loves. And while this man wishes he could make her take him back and rebuild the love they once had, the only thing he has the power to do is make her cry. Hence, he’s really good at making it rain.
“There’s one thing I can do,
I can make it rain
I can make her tears fall down
Take everything that used to be
And leave it puddled up on the ground
Yeah I can make it flood
Watch it wash it all away
Take all our love
And pour it down the drain
Yeah, I can make it rain
I can make it rain…”
Man, those words cut you to the core. I truly don’t think I’ve heard a heartbreak song with this perspective before, and it hits you deep in the chest. While I hope we get the studio cut of this song, unlike many of the other unreleased jam session videos Riley Green has shared where fans are begging him to drop the track immediately, Green is getting a different response from fans on this video.
Riley Green’s Christmas tree is still proudly on display in the background of this video, and he did not want to deal with folks giving him sh*t for still having up Christmas decor in February, so he told fans in the caption to leave him alone with the Christmas tree comments.
“Also first person to make a smarta** remark about my Christmas tree still being up is gettin blocked.”
While I’m sure to intention was to keep the focus on the song, the caption had the opposite effect leading all the video’s comments to be about the Christmas tree.
“How many boyfriends commented about the tree from their girlfriend’s account so he blocks their girlfriend.”
“This is now a Mardi Gras tree. Welcome to the club Mr. Duckman.”
“Glad to see I’m not the only one with my tree still up.”
“Can’t wait for this song to come out, it will feels like a gift under a Christmas tree when this song come out.”
“I was already typing about the Christmas tree when I read the caption.”
“None of us ladies would have even noticed your Christmas tree.”
“Dude it’s almost March why is your Christmas tree still up.”
However, after the first viewers of the video got their Christmas tree comments out of the way, all his fans think this might be his next #1 hit. Tree or no tree in the background, this song highlights Green’s prolific songwriting.
I will have this on repeat for the foreseeable future. Check it out.
If you want to catch Riley Green live this year, and maybe catch this song on stage you’re in luck because he’s about to kick off his Damn Country Music tour. It’s sure to be a stellar night of music as he’s bringing along Ella Langley, Jake Worthington, Vincent Mason, Channing Wilson and more.
