Kendrick Lamar’s Flared Jeans Were The Talk Of His Halftime Performance: “Everybody’s Quick To Call Drake Zesty”

Taking a page out of the Lainey Wilson playbook.

Lainey Wilson has made flare jeans part of her signature look as they flow with her as she runs around on stage during her high-energy performances. Wilson first went viral for her booty in said jeans in 2022. Since then, her butt has been a topic of conversation for the artist as fans were upset it got smaller after she lost some weight.

But let’s face it, when you exert as much energy as Wilson is on stage each night, you’ll lose a few. That’s a workout in itself.

Wilson has made flare jeans a part of her brand. She now has partnerships with Wrangler and even named a record after her signature style, Bell Bottom Country.

And while Lainey has been rocking the retro look for quite a while, it seems like bell bottoms and flared jeans are officially BACK. And apparently, they’re even back with America’s best rappers.

Kendrick Lamar sported flare jeans during his Super Bowl Halftime Show, and while Kendrick fans might have loved the performance, the conclusion from the internet is they were less than impressed with the show. Granted, it was pretty hilarious that he roasted Drake in front of 120 million people, with his ex, Serena Williams, dancing on stage. Talk about savage. A number of people also found the American flag and Uncle Sam elements refreshing (as opposed to some kind of weird, satanic bullsh*t that we’re used to seeing lately), although I imagine some of those folks probably missed the meaning behind it.

However, as for the music and entertainment value, only bringing out SZA as a featured artist made it a tough sell for older Super Bowl viewers, ultimately leading to bad reviews.

However, Kendrick’s outfit choice has received more attention than the performance itself. He wore a varsity-style jacket with gloves, a hat, jeans, and sneakers and looked good. However, social media cannot get enough of his flare jeans.

He’s bringing 2000s Y2K Miss Me Jeans fashion back!

While bell bottom jeans have been around for a long time, I find it interesting that Kendrick chooses to bring back the style when country music is having a massive moment in the media. Of course, plenty of other country stars besides Wilson have made flares part of their look, like Dwight Yoakam or Blackberry Smoke’s lead singer Charlie Starr. However, Wilson has made bell bottoms have a massive resurgence by wearing colorful and patterned flare jeans.

However, Kendrick’s jeans, from the brand Celine, might cost more than a pair of Lainey Wilson’s Wranglers. They will cost about $1,350.

I have been laughing so hard at the social media commentary around the flare jeans from last night’s performance. Check out some of my favorite posts.
