Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show proved that it’s time to bring back a country music halftime act.
It’s time!
I want a Luke Combs Super Bowl halftime.

I want a Carrie Underwood Super Bowl halftime.

Now, I’m writing this as a fan of Kendrick, but let’s state some facts here. Kendrick is not an artist who appeals to many viewers over 35 (and I feel like that’s pushing it). A rap show is hard to follow unless you are familiar with the songs. The quick tempo and fast delivery of words can often leave people mishearing lyrics or completely missing them.
We have seen rappers put on some stellar halftime shows in the past, but they pull out classic rap and R&B tunes and bring out other prominent rap characters. A perfect example of this Super Bowl LVI’s halftime show, which featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and also Kendrick Lamar.
However, Kendrick’s inclusion of only SZA as an additional artist made it difficult for him to appeal to a wider age range.
The result… a lot of people were less than impressed with the halftime performance. Although, roasting Drake in front of 120 million, with his ex, Serena Williams, dancing on stage… savage.
Shortly after the performance, social media users shared their disappointment with the halftime show. Many big faces, such as Theo Von, John Rich, and others, are not holding back their feelings about Kendrick Lamar’s performance.
The Super Bowl needs to hear our cries and bring back a country halftime performance. The feedback after this performance makes a compelling case: Make the Super Bowl Halftime Show Great Again! Give us Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, or Carrie Underwood. Hell, I’d even take a performance from Keith Urban at this point, as I actually know a few songs.
While I am sure Kendrick fans might have opposing opinions, which is warranted, the general public does not seem likely to rave about this performance for years to come.
Check out some of the commentary.
boring halftime show
