Drunk Philadelphia Eagles Reporter Covered In Powdered Sugar Crashes 5 AM News Report Live From New Orleans: “I Got A Lot Of Beads”

New Orleans is undefeated.

I used to live in New Orleans so I’m a little biased, but I’m convinced that it’s one of the greatest cities in the world. From the food to the music and just the general party atmosphere, there’s nowhere else like it.

One of the great things about New Orleans is that there are no open container laws, meaning you can just take your drink with you when you leave the bar and walk down the street with it, and there are also no closing times for the bars. Sure, places close when the crowds leave, but there’s always going to be somewhere open 24 hours a day if you want to party.

Well the Super Bowl is headed back to New Orleans next weekend, and fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are already taking over the Crescent City ahead of the big game. And when you get that many football fans in one of the biggest party cities in the world, you’re bound to get some wild moments – and they’re already starting.

Reporter Alex Holley of FOX29 in Philadelphia was doing a live report from the French Quarter early this morning (remember, it’s still almost a week before the game) when one of her coworkers – and some lovely ladies from Brooklyn that he appeared to have made friends with – crashed the party…at 5 AM.

FOX 29 anchor Mike Jerrick had clearly been out all night enjoying himself. He had a Hand Grenade in his hand, which is one of the signature drinks on Bourbon Street. If you’ve never had a Hand Grenade, they’re a sugary melon flavored drink made with Everclear, so they’re strong as shit. I used to drink them all the time, but these days I stay away from the Hand Grenades. Not only do they mess you up, but the next day is going to hurt too.

And he also had a bag of beignets from the famous Cafe du Monde, a 24-hour cafe in the heart of the French Quarter famous for their beignets (basically a fried donut if you’ve never had one) that are piled high with powdered sugar. But one of the problems with the beignets is that they can get a little messy…and this guy looked like he had more powdered sugar on his face than there was on the beignets.

Not gonna lie, I kinda wanna party with this guy.

As Jerrick and his friends walked up to Holley, she informed him that they were live on the air – and he decided that it was his time to shine.

“It’s 5:00 in the morning here…I got a lot of beads, and I got a Grenade…is this called a Grenade? What exactly’s in it again? Don’t worry about it.

Every time somebody said ‘Go Birds’ I ate a beignet.”

Yeah, we can tell because they’re all over your face.

He clearly seemed to be enjoying himself, calling New Orleans “iconic” while Holley responded that she wouldn’t know because she was in bed while he was out partying. And when he showed off his beads, the reporter didn’t even want to know what he had to do to get those…I mean, if you know you know.

The Birds fan then began giving viewers his own live report:

“So we’re at Cafe du Monde. If you’ve ever been to New Orleans that is iconic back there.”

Iconic indeed. (Although, hot take, it’s kind of a tourist trap).

Not gonna lie, seeing that really makes me miss New Orleans. I was living down there the last time the city hosted the Super Bowl back in 2013, and the energy for the entire week was absolutely electric. I didn’t go to the game, but was watching from a bar downtown and I don’t even remember most of the game. Didn’t even know the power went out until the next day. But it was a hell of a time.

So to everybody headed to New Orleans for the Super Bowl this week, I’m insanely jealous, but have a great time and be safe.

And take it easy on the Hand Grenades. Trust me, those hurt the next day.
