There are a lot of reasons to hate this, but I’m not sure this is one of them.
Rascal Flatts is officially a thing again, after announcing last year that they were reuniting for the first time since their split in 2020.
The band had announced a farewell tour back in 2019, but that got put on hold when concerts were canceled by COVID the following year. In the meantime, several of the members have been working on solo projects (and Joe Don Rooney was dealing with a divorce and legal issues, as well as rumors that he was transitioning to a woman), so it didn’t seem like a reunion was in the cards any time soon.
But last year, Flatts announced that they would be dusting off the sparkly jeans once again and hitting the road together later this year.
While the tour doesn’t kick off until next month, the band officially reunited for the first time last week for a performance during President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball. And of course, there were some fans who weren’t happy that they were supporting Trump.
Well apparently a new tour isn’t the only thing the band has been working on. Over the weekend, Rascal Flatts teased a new collab coming soon and asked fans to guess who they were working with. And today, Gary LeVox and the crew revealed that their first new single since reuniting would be a collaboration with…the Jonas Brothers?
New collab with @jonasbrothers coming your way!! Can't wait for you to hear "I Dare You" THIS Friday! Pre-save now: https://t.co/txNlNzqj45 pic.twitter.com/3PXVJMLc3F

What the hell? Did anybody ask for this?
The new single called “I Dare You” is dropping this Friday, and I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to not listen to it. But that’s just because I don’t really have any interest in Rascal Flatts OR the Jonas Brothers, so I sure as hell don’t have any interest in a single featuring both of the boy bands together.
But apparently some Jonas Brothers fans aren’t exactly happy about the collab either…and as you can probably guess, it’s because Rascal Flatts appeared at the inaugural ball for Donald Trump:
No, keep it to yourselves
Hey @jonasbrothers these guys are trumpists, why would you wanna collaborate with them? Are you supremacists too?? If so just tell us so we can unfollow u all thx 💋

Yeah, not even in my top 100 of reasons I won’t be listening.
Of course Rascal Flatts isn’t the only act that’s received backlash for performing at Trump’s inaugural celebration. After it was announced that Carrie Underwood would be performing “America the Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony, “fans” immediately began claiming that they would be boycotting her music and even took to the comments on American Idol’s social media promising that they would no longer be watching the show because of Carrie’s (perceived) support of Trump.
The reaction prompted John Rich, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, to call on his fellow country artists who support Trump in private to speak out publicly and stop worrying about being “canceled” for being a conservative.
I mean, if we’re going to cancel somebody, it should be because they’re doing a “country” collab with the Jonas Brothers and not because of who they support for president…
