The Internet Is Convinced That Barack Obama Is Having An Affair With Jennifer Aniston After Michelle Obama Skips High-Profile Events

Is that why she skipped the inauguration?

Rumors have started flying after former President Barack Obama has made several public appearances lately without his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, by his side.

Michelle’s absence was first noticed during President Jimmy Carter’s funeral earlier this month, when she was the only former First Lady not in attendance with her husband. At the time, it was explained that Michelle was on vacation in Hawaii and unable to attend the funeral – which…doesn’t seem like a great excuse.

And then earlier this week, Michelle wasn’t in attendance at the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Naturally everybody just assumed it was because she hated Trump, but he hasn’t exactly made friends among any of our former presidents and their spouses – most notably Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016 but still managed to make it to his second inauguration. (She didn’t look happy, but she was at least there).

Michelle Obama, though, has been nowhere in sight.

Ahead of the inauguration, Obama was also spotted heading out for dinner without his wife, which has prompted speculation that there’s trouble in paradise between the former First Couple.

Obama seemed to try to put the rumors to bed with a post last week celebrating their anniversary:

But it hasn’t been enough to quiet the online chatter – and the internet is convinced the couple are heading for a divorce. And they think there’s another woman to blame: Actress Jennifer Aniston.

How did Jennifer Aniston get wrapped up in the presidential relationship drama? Well it actually goes back to last August, when InTouch magazine published a “bombshell” story claiming that Barack and Aniston were having an affair and “obsessed with each other,” leaving Michelle feeling “betrayed” by her husband.

The rumor started on celebrity gossip podcast Who? Weekly, when host Lindsey Weber claimed that the news came from a “reliable source” while also acknowledging that it could be made up:

“Michelle and Barack are living separate lives, and Barack is fucking Jennifer Aniston.”

Then in October, Aniston appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she was asked about the rumors, and laughed them off:

 “Of all the calls you get from your publicist where you’re just like, ‘Oh no, what’s it gonna be?’… And then it’s that. I was not mad at it.

That is absolutely untrue.”

Aniston said she had only met Barack once, but that she knew Michelle more than she knew the former president.

Well fast forward to this month, with the speculation of a divorce swirling, and popular blogger Jessica Reed Kraus again stoked the Barack/Jen rumors with a post on her popular Substack, claiming another source that confirmed the two were in a relationship:

“He’s with Jennifer Aniston. My old manager, now a friend, is connected to her inner circle. At a gathering with Jennifer’s friends, the affair came up casually—Jennifer herself admitted it. They were sitting with a psychic, which makes it sound surreal, but it’s definitely not a secret among her closest friends.”

And…well, the internet has kind of run with it, despite the fact that there’s no real proof that these are anything other than rumors:

Obviously it’s just a rumor, and there’s not even any evidence that Barack and Michelle’s marriage is on the rocks. But you know how the internet is.

And honestly, I mean, could you blame him?
