Sometimes letting nature take its course makes for spectacular entertainment.
Mother Nature is a cruel beast. There’s not much we humans can do when nature decides to show its teeth and hit us with storms and natural disasters. Anytime harsh weather hits, it’s a stern reminder that the winds that control the world’s atmospheric conditions can have one hell of an attitude.
Though this is one of the first times that I’ve realized Mother Nature has a sense of humor.
Ask any little kid what they want to be when they grow up and a large portion of them will hit you with this answer: Influencer. When I was a kid, you used to respond to that question with professions like “astronaut” or “firefighter” or even “professional athlete.” Nowadays, you’ll get “YouTuber” and “influencer” more than any other answer.
The whole idea of an influencer is confusing to me. I’m going to follow someone online and look to them for influence? I need them to tell me where to eat, what to wear, and what’s trending? To be honest, any time I see an influencer, I scroll past them as fast as possible. I know to some that influencers have a lot of value, but to me, I couldn’t care less.
I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that agree with me on that, which is why so many people got enjoyment out of this viral video. The Instagram account that posted it, “Influencers In The Wild,” is a great follow if you are interested in being kept up to date with the absurd world of influencing. This time around, a woman who was trying to capture a candid video of her in the ocean didn’t account for the rising tide – and paid the price.
As you’ll see in the clip below, the influencer set up her phone in the sand and proceeded to walk down into ocean. She was sure that all of her followers would love some footage of her frolicking in the sea as the waves rolled in. However, the influencer didn’t realize that larger and larger waves were breaking right at the shore, which meant the water would be making its way farther up the beach.
She finally did realize it at some point, but it was too late:
Absolutely hilarious.
Not only did the ocean get her phone, but it also appears that it knocked her to the ground as well. The moment she realized the sea was going to swallow up her cellular device was priceless, and a lot of people in the comments enjoyed the ocean fighting back against the influencer:

“Lovely how nature immediately rejected her.”
“The sea was angry that day, my friends.”
“What’s that old saying about never turning your back on the ocean?”
“Even the ocean was tired of her sh*t.”

That’s what I figured too, but then again, she was still able to recover and post this video. Maybe she got to it just in the nick of time? Regardless, it just goes to show that they aren’t requiring any “passing of tests” to become an influencer these days…
