Canadians – and the hockey world at large – love Tate McRae.
Do I need to really differentiate between “Canadians” and “the hockey world?” Feel like those are a couple of synonyms cutting it up, but maybe I’m wrong. At the very least, most of our northern neighbors call themselves fans of the sport, so we’ll just leave it that.
That way we can get to the more important part of the story, which is that Canadian singer, songwriter and dancer Tate McRae attended a Calgary Flames game last night. And the internet took notice, to say the least. It certainly helped that the NHL broadcast pointed out that their hometown superstar was in attendance.
McRae was actually born in Calgary, Alberta, so it makes sense that she would be a fan of the Flames. And hockey is very important to her family, as her brother Tucker plays collegiate hockey at Dartmouth.
When the broadcast shined a light on Tate McRae, they showed her brother sitting right next to her as they cheered on the Flames:
We've got @tatemcrae in the house in Calgary! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/vgY6uys3aR

As you can see, she’s a big hit in her hometown of Calgary. She actually played her first concert there this past summer, stopping in for the Cowboys Music Festival as a part of her Miss Possessive Tour. McRae is also a recognizable figure in the world of hockey, mainly because she dated NHL player Cole Sillinger.
He plays center for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and this post below sums up their relationship that ended in 2023. The cheating part is alleged, but the storyline that came from it certainly helped Tate McRae’s career rocket to the moon:
Man… Tate McRae getting the invite to the All-Star game before her ex that’s an actual hockey player has to sting.
But anyways, back to her attending the Calgary Flames game. It seems as though some people are just now finding out who the superstar is, while others are very much familiar with her. Either way, social media was swooning over Tate McRae underneath the NHL’s post, as you’ll be able to see from some of the replies:
Me personally if I see Tate sitting in the second level, I’m going Zibanejad mode and tucking 5 including an OT winner, then I’m finding her in the stands and blowing kisses at her while I’m sliding on my knees at center ice for my celly like I’m Yakupov.

The Ottawa Senators, who got the W on the road in Calgary last night, even chimed in:
glad she got to witness Brady’s “it’s ok I’m ok” game after getting stitches and the game winner 🙏
