Host Of ‘The View’ Mocked For False Claim That President Woodrow Wilson Pardoned Non-Existent Brother-In-Law Named “Hunter DeButts”

That’s why you always fact check when you use ChatGPT.

Of course it’s hard to take anything that the braintrust over at The View says seriously. The daytime talk show is just an echo chamber for left-wing tabloid stories, which is why host Sunny Hostin has to keep reading legal notices every day after they talk about the new appointees in Donald Trump’s upcoming presidential administration:

It seems like since the election last month the show has been especially unhinged, even telling viewers to skip Thanksgiving with their family who voted for Trump.

And in a further effort to destroy any credibility they had left, host Ana Navarro-Cárdenas decided to take to Twitter to attempt to defend President Joe Biden’s recent pardon of his son, Hunter Biden.

The president’s son was convicted on three felony charges earlier this year for federal gun violations, after it was found that he illegally possessed a firearm while he was using drugs, lied on his forms while purchasing a gun, and made false statements to the dealer in order to buy the gun.

He also plead guilty to three felony charges and six misdemeanors related to tax evasion and filing false tax returns, and was scheduled to be sentenced in both cases later this month.

But this past weekend, not only did the president pardon Hunter for those crimes, the pardon also dates all the way back to January 1, 2014 – when Joe Biden was Vice President, and Hunter began working for Ukrainian energy company Burisma, a position that has come under intense scrutiny and brought allegations of corruption on the part of both Joe and Hunter Biden.

According to the hosts of The View though, Joe Biden did nothing wrong. And Ana Navarro-Cárdenas has evidence to prove it.

Navarro-Cárdenas took to Twitter recently to share other instances of presidents pardoning their family members:

“Woodrow Wilson pardoned his brother-in-law, Hunter deButts.

Bill Clinton pardoned his brother, Roger.

Donald Trump pardoned his daughter’s father-in-law, Charlie Kushner. And just appointed him Ambassador to France.

But tell me again how Joe Biden “is setting precedent”?”

Case closed, right? Well, not exactly. Because Hunter deButts isn’t a real person.

As the community note to her tweet points out, Wilson had two brothers-in-law from two different wives – Richard Bolling and Stockton Axson. There is also no evidence that anybody named “Hunter DeButts” was ever pardoned by the 28th President.

I mean, wasn’t the first clue that his name was Hunter deButts?

Well as it turns out, Navarro-Cárdenas had a simple explanation for how she got the fake news for her tweet: She asked ChatGPT.

“Hey Twitter sleuths, thanks for taking the time to provide context. Take it up with Chat GPT…”

Apparently the television host simply asked ChatGPT whether any presidents had pardoned their family members, and pasted the answer into her tweet.

Is that the kind of journalism they do over there on the view? It’s no wonder they have to keep reading legal notices on the show.
