Lainey Wilson is already bound to have a very busy night at the CMA Awards, so throwing in a wardrobe malfunction wouldn’t necessarily be ideal.
The country music star will help host the award show alongside Luke Bryan and Peyton, she’s set to perform during the show, and she’s once again nominated for Entertainer of the Year. That already seems to me like plenty of things to worry about, but according to Wilson herself, the multiple outfit changes she has planned for her hosting duty could provide one more unplanned, worrisome moment.
During a rapid fire session with Good Morning America, Bryan, Manning and Wilson were asked a number of different questions, including, “Who is most likely to chug a beer before the show?” and “Who is more likely worry about their hair and makeup?” Lainey and Peyton pointed at Luke Bryan for that last one, by the way.
But when the trio was asked about who would be most likely to have a wardrobe malfunction, everyone was in agreement that the correct answer to that one was Lainey Wilson. Bryan quickly blurted out that the “4X4XU” singer would have “a lot going on during the show.”
Lainey agreed, saying:
“Me 100%. I have like 10 outfits.”
You also have to think that Lainey Wilson’s history with wardrobe malfunctions could drive her to be the easy answer there.
Back in July, the country artist famous for her bell-bottoms almost went bare-bottom when she split her jeans during a concert. She handled it like a champ, and had a great sense of humor about it:
“Y’all just about got a real show… a REAL show. There’s a first time for everything and I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of. You can’t make that up… I’d have never known had my people back here not seen it.”

Iconic.
She’ll be bringing that kind of energy and natural comedic relief to the CMA Awards tonight as she joins hosts Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan – who have hosted the show together twice before. Bryan previously told ABC Audio that adding Wilson into the mix was the perfect choice:
“Lainey’s a great personality, big personality. There’s a reason why Lainey Wilson has become Lainey Wilson in such a short amount of time. It’s because she’s a straight-up star. We’re really honored to have her be a part of the club. Our read-throughs thus far have been really, really fun and we’re having a good time. She fits right into the whole mix and we’re loving having her.”
Country music fans will be able to see how Wilson works with Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning when the trio hosts the CMA Awards live from Nashville TONIGHT at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. And just in case you were interested to scrolling through all of the nominees for tonight, we’ve got you covered.
