Gearing up for April.
Cross Canadian Ragweed will triumphantly return to the stage in April of next year after a 15-year hiatus. The Stillwater, Oklahoma-formed band are a cornerstone of the Red Dirt movement and have inspired many other Texas country rock and Red Dirt artists to this day.
With hits like “17,” “Boys From Oklahoma,” and “Alabama,” their catalog began with Carney in 1998, and featured 7 studio albums up until they parted ways in 2010. After the band broke up, Cody Canada and Jeremy Plato formed Cody Canada and the Departed, who still play a ton of the Ragweed stuff to this day.
Although Cody Canada swore it would never happen, the stars aligned and they surprised fans by announcing a show at Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium. The Boys From Oklahoma event will feature performances from Ragweed and Turnpike Troubadours, The Great Divide, Stoney LaRue, and Jason Boland & the Stragglers. After announcing the show, fans were buzzing with excitement, and given the overwhelming demand for more shows, they expanded the event into two nights. Cody Canada and the rest of the band were amazing when the two nights sold out during pre-sale, and they added two more nights, extending the event to four nights total, which are all sold out.
As fans’ excitement builds for the upcoming show dates, they are also taking in as much content as possible as Ragweed begins to practice for the stadium audience.
During a recent visit to 95.9 The Ranch, they told the Texas radio station that despite being over a decade apart during their first reunion, everything fell back into place as no time had passed.
“We did the set front to back, and we whooped its ass last night. It feels great. We really…on the first song, right out of the gate. We just dove right in. We all saw each other a few weeks ago, so we got all of that out.”

Fans filled up the comments, noting how excited they were to hear that the early days of rehearsing for the event were going smoothly. Given the buzz in the comments, the radio station gave fans another preview of what’s ahead, taking their social media viewers into the rehearsal room.
The snippet shows the band practicing “Alabama,” and Cody Canada was not wrong; they sound great. If this doesn’t get you jazzed up for April, I don’t know what will.
