Don’t take pleasure in other people’s pain.
That’s the message from Zach Bryan‘s ex-girlfriend after the country music star and his latest girlfriend, Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry (whose real name is Brianna LaPaglia) announced earlier this week that they had gone their separate ways.
The breakup has already been pretty nasty and very public, with rumors swirling on Monday night after a profile for Zach was spotted on celebrity dating app Raya.
The next morning, the singer confirmed on his Instagram story that he and Brianna had broken up.
“Addressing something: Brianna and me have broken up with each other and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and for that I’ll always thank her.
I have had an incredibly hard year personally and struggled through some pretty severe things. I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go our different ways. I am not perfect and never will be.
Please respect Brianna’s privacy and space in this and if you have it in your heart, mine too. With everything I am and to anyone I let down, I am sorry. I try my best in everything. I failed people that love me and mostly myself.”
But the announcement seemed to catch her off-guard, after Brianna admitted that she was “blindsided” by Zach making the news public so soon, and that she was hoping to have time to deal with it privately.
“I’m just at the point where it’s like, how can you give someone everything, and love them so unconditionally through stuff that you shouldn’t… because you just love them and you want them, you see the good in them…. this is so embarrassing.
I don’t give a f***. How can you give every ounce of yourself to someone and then be discarded in a few days? It’s really, really heartbreaking and I don’t wanna talk about details right now.”
Since it’s become public, fans (if you can call them fans) have been digging into Zach’s dating history, and many have been leaving comments on the TikTok of his ex-girlfriend, Deb Peifer.
Zach and Deb dated for about a year, and broke up shortly before he began dating Brianna. And because of the quick turnaround, many online took Deb’s side and criticized Zach for the way he ended things with her.
So when Zach and Brianna announced their breakup, a lot of people on Team Deb flocked to her comments to express their joy at the end of his relationship, calling it “karma” for the way he had treated her.
Let’s take a look at some of the comments on Deb’s posts, shall we?
“You seem extra peppy today! Love to see it!”
“I hope you’re having the best day, Deb. You deserve it”
“A damn good day to be our fav girly Deb”
“I know u are laughing so hard rn”
“Tough year girlie, but Karma was always on your side”
But Deb isn’t interested in any revenge or taking please in someone else’s pain.
In a video posted to her TikTok, Deb doesn’t directly address Zach and Brianna, but says that she does want to clarify that it doesn’t make her feel better to see other people hurting:
“I don’t really think that I have to say this, but I kind of think I want to. I’m not 100% sure yet honestly. But I just want to be clear on the fact that I don’t find any gratification in other people, specifically other women, hurting.
I feel like I’ve seen some comments on my personal social media pages alluding to the fact that I do, and I don’t. So I just wanted to make sure that was clear.
I think that emotions are so nuanced and so complicated, but I don’t feel better because other people are hurting in any capacity. I don’t think you should either, but that’s your journey.”

Classy response. But the comments on her video? Well, seems that her fans aren’t quite as forgiving as Deb…
“You’re perfect Deb. I, however, am not”
Seems like Deb has got quite the fan club herself…and they’re definitely enjoying this week’s big news.
