Riley Green and Ella Langley’s duets have taken the country music scene by storm. With the viral sensation of “You Look Like You Love Me,” the duo ran it back with the release of their second single, “Don’t Mind If I Do.” Since the first single was such a hit, fans naturally thought that inspired their second duet for Green’s most recent single.

However, that was not the case, and Langley being featured as the female vocals on the duet was not the original plan.

Riley Green recently sat down with Apple Music to discuss his new project and third studio album, Don’t Mind If I Do. During the interview with host Kelleigh Bannen, he opened up about the unexpected duet with Ella Langley.

“I don’t know if I’ve told you this, but I didn’t plan on her being on that song. I wrote it as a duet, but I had her come by the studio to put a female vocal on it just to hear it so I could potentially pitch it around.

She just crushed it. It sounded so great. You know, we are from very similar areas in Alabama, and I think we grew up listening to the same kind of music. So maybe that’s why our voices go so well together, and we’ve got the same kind of twang.

So, even having those two duets wasn’t a planned thing; it just kind of happened. And I’m happy for her success, and it’s fun having her on the road to do those two songs and have those two hits with her.”

Some things are clearly just meant to be because their vocals on both “Don’t Mind If I Do,’ and “You Look Like You Love Me” are a match made in heaven. It’s funny how artists often don’t have a plan of who they want to feature on duets, but they always seem to fall into place the way that they were meant to.

I know that country music is thanking these two for hearing the magic when experimenting with “Don’t Mind If I Do” in the studio and deciding to cut to the single together.

I can’t wait to see all the clips of them performing together on the Damn Country Music Tour.
