Luke Bryan Says He’s Surprised At How Much Hate He Gets For His Tight Jeans

Hey, the moms love it.

I can pretty much guarantee that any time we post about Luke Bryan (which, honestly, isn’t that often), we’re going to get a ton of comments about him wearing skinny jeans – and they’re never talking about it in a nice way.

The whole “dudes wearing skinny jeans” thing has almost become a metaphor for dudes singing shitty pop country music at this point, now that the genre has swung back more towards traditional and ’90s country sounds. And for many, Luke is the first artist that comes to mind when somebody takes a shot at artists wearing skinny jeans.

And I’ll get this out of the way right now: I don’t hate Luke Bryan. Most of his music in recent years isn’t really for me, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have his old stuff on repeat back before about 2012. “We Rode In Trucks” was a legitimately good song, and even the most diehard country fans would have a hard time arguing that with a straight face.

But more than his music, Luke seems like he’s a good dude. He’s a little goofy, but I’ve really never heard a bad word about him. He even photobombed a picture we were taking with another artist recently. Taller than I expected. But he was a super nice dude in the short interaction I had with him.

To many fans of traditional country music though, he’s a symbol of everything that’s been wrong with country music since 2012 – and his skinny jeans often become the butt (no pun intended) of the jokes.

Luke admitted during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that country fans see his tight jeans as a sign of inauthenticity – but he says he’s surprised at how pissed off people get about them:

“Country’s tough, because once you show any unauthenticity, buddy, you’re done.

My thing was tight jeans. You wouldn’t imagine me wearing tight jeans on stage, how much that pisses people off.”

I mean, who am I to judge how another dude dresses? Tight jeans aren’t really for me, mainly because I’m too fat and could never squeeze my ass into those. But for many people, when Luke wears them on stage, they’re a symbol of everything that’s wrong with country music.
