Grizzly Bear Takes Down Elk Calf In Montana, & The Number Of Comments Asking Why He Didn’t Help Are Alarming

Bear takes down doe in Montana

Death by grizzly bear bite? That is not the way to go out.

As you’ve probably heard before, nature is a very brutal place. There’s no mercy out in the wild, especially for those animals that fall underneath the “prey” grouping. Apex predators, like the grizzly bear in this video below, reign supreme.

The morbid clip was taken by a person who just happened to be driving by in their truck at the time. In the caption, it reveals that this sad takedown took place in the state of Montana, which boasts the largest grizzly bear population in the lower 48 states.

This seems to be a situation where a young elk got separated from its mother (and siblings) and ended up paying the ultimate price because of it. You’ll be able to hear the small elk calling for help once its realizes it was really in some trouble after it wandered into the water.

With the grizzly bear already closing in, the high-pitched yelps for help weren’t of much use. The bruin locked its eyes on the target and splashed down into the water shortly before utilizing one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom (grizzlies bite down with 1,161 pounds per square inch of force) and chomping down on the poor elk.

You can hear other elk – potentially the mother or a sibling – calling back to the calf that had just become a waterside meal. By that point, the grizzly bear had laid claim to the young animal, and it was getting ready to serve itself dinner right by the water.

Naturally, the comments section was filled with people disgusted by the fact that the driver filmed this instead of helping the poor calf. And of course, some of the comments may be ironic, but there’s also plenty that weren’t joking…

“So sad people just sit there and film. GET OUT AND HELP!”

“This is disgusting and despicable. Stop recording and help that innocent doe.”

“Did the driver not have bear spray? Could have went on and helped the doe!”

“Camera man didn’t even try to help the deer.”

“Go help the baby.”

“And you did nothing…”

It’s and ugly part of nature, which is ironic because it all goes down in quite the serene, beautiful Montana landscape:
