Idiot Finds Out The Hard Way His Tesla Cybertruck Isn’t Bulletproof

Tesla Cybertruck

Even if this worked… Why? Just why?

In this hyper-divisive world we live in, there may be nothing that splits the population straight down the middle more than the Tesla Cybertruck.

They’re huge, shiny, and unique looking, that’s for sure and here in Northern Virginia I probably see at least 3 a day and every time they catch my eye, for better or worse. It really seems people either absolutely adore them or absolutely abhor them and there’s no room in the middle.

Now, I’m not here to break down the good or bad of these things, but one feature that’s been highly touted is their alleged durability.

You probably remember Joe Rogan shooting an arrow at Elon Musk’s when he stopped by his podcast studio and much has been made about the supposed bulletproof exterior, but one new Cybertruck owner found out the hard way that things aren’t always what they’re supposed to be.

According to Armormax, the Cybertruck’s exterior is made of Ultra-Hard 30x Cold-Rolled stainless-steel, meaning in theory it can withstand the impact of a 9mm handgun. You can upgrade the windows to Armormax glass which will withstand the impact of high-powered assault rifles.

Well, a guy recently got his new Cybertruck delivered and decided to test this out for himself.

Spoiler alert: It didn’t go well.

The viral video shows a guy line up at an angle towards his tailgate and send a round at his $82,000+ new vehicle. Obviously this breaks pretty much every safety protocol out there, and while fortunately no one got hurt, the experiment completely failed.

The bullet easily punctured the tailgate, leaving a deep, very expensive scar for all the world to see.

I mean, what was the best case scenario here? Did you really think there would be zero damage done to your vehicle when you shoot it from point blank range? At best there will be an unfixable dent or scrape and at worst the bullet ricochets off and buries itself in your body. Honestly, this was probably the middle ground of possibilities, so again, why are we doing this?

I guess people will always be willing to do insane things for online clout but can we keep the bullets away from our cars please?
