I will never not giggle when I’m at a country concert (or any concert, for that matter) and I see a bra launched on stage. It’s always entertaining to see how the performing artist reacts to the undergarment hitting the stage, and it also makes me chuckle, hoping that whoever gave their bra a toss-up to the front is wearing an outfit that won’t suffer from the lack of lady support. Ladies, you know what I mean…
But throwing panties on stage? Not so much…
Who wants to have dirty drawls thrown at them? And who wants to go commando at a concert? We’ve seen panties thrown at Riley Green, hit Morgan Wallen in the face, and many other hot names in today’s limelight. But Joe Nichols is here to let folks know it’s not just the young bucks getting lacy undergarments thrown at them. Although the garments thrown at Nichols might not have been lacy…
During a recent interview with 100.7 The Wolf, a Seattle radio station, Nichols recalled when a pair of full-coverage briefs were thrown at him from the crowd. The way that Nichols recalls seeing the underwear fly through the crowd is beyond humorous.
“I’ll tell you the funniest thing that was thrown on stage one time was a gigantic pair of panties. It was thrown to the stage, and it parachuted. They caught sail, it was like one of those.
It’s like, tell me someone is videoing this and will send it or put it on social media.”
This isn’t the first time that Nichols has recalled this story. His lyrics for “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” ring a little too true for his audience, but that does not mean he wants folks to take their clothes off at his show. In 2022, on the Bobby Bones Show, Nichols told the radio personality that he actually gets rather uncomfortable with undergarments being thrown at him.
“This lady threw some panties on stage one time, and they were so big. I felt, I felt like there’s nothing. There’s no way you can respond to this. Cause you can’t laugh. Like, ah, somebody because he could hurt their feelings.
But then I don’t know that that kind of ruined me on that. So please keep your clothes on. Cause I never know how to take that.”
Maybe after this mildly-scarring incident, Nichols should change the lyrics of his hit song to “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Stay On” when he’s performing it live. Part of me wonders if someone got this giant pair of panties as a prank, which, if that’s true, I am sure Nichols would rather have some clean, big prank panties thrown at him versus a used thong.
Maybe keep your underwear on your person from here on out…
