The time finally came.
One we hoped for, but were told by frontman Cody Canada would never happen… Cross Canadian Ragweed is officially back together. Well, for at least one night, as the iconic Red Dirt group will play a reunion show at Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State University on April 12th, 2025.
For years since they disbanded in 2010, fans have been hoping and praying for a reunion with their favorite Red Dirt band, the Nirvana of Red Dirt music. And for years, frontman Cody Canada has been insisting that it will never happen… you know what they say about the word “never.”
Though I’ll admit, while I was obviously excited they’re getting back together, for at least one show, I was really curious as to what finally changed their minds. And in an Instagram post yesterday, he gave some answers as to the “why now” question, saying that they all want their kids and parents to see them perform again, and quite simply:
“Stillwater needs it, the world needs it, America needs it, Jesus, we all need it. Let’s just do it, it’s gonna be fun, right?”
Sounds great to me…
“You guys are persistent… a couple of things, yes, it is the full lineup. Grady, Randy, Jeremy, myself. Yes, it is gonna be a good time. Yes, we are all in good graces. We are all getting older in this life, not one of us isn’t. And it was time to do it.
Our kids need to see it, and our parents need to see it, the ones that are still here with us, and it’s gonna be a good time. Stillwater needs it, the world needs it, America needs it, Jesus, we all need it. Let’s just do it, it’s gonna be fun, right? The last few days I’ve been thinking about what I’m gonna say about all this and I think I just got it all out there.
I will say this, when it comes to the show, this is the biggest thing that we have ever done. The biggest thing that Shannon’s ever had to promote, the biggest thing I’ve ever had to talk about. Jason Boland & The Stragglers, The Great Divide, Stoney LaRue, Turnpike Troubadours and Ragweed. That feels really good to say that.”
He also explained that there are no guest tickets or anything else he can offer anyone due to the fact that they have so much family and close friends coming to the show, and he was very clear in telling people to ONLY purchase tickets from the OSU website when they go on sale… not a third party ticketing website.
Additionally, the tickets will be very affordable, ranging from $25 to $225. Canada also explained that they have a lot of practicing to do and a work to do in terms of making a set list, but I have no doubt they’re not going to miss a beat up on that stage.
Cody also thanked fans for all of their support, and said he was “humbled” by all of the excitement and support surrounding the announcement:
“I really, honest to God, had no idea that this was going to be like this. I knew that people were excited, I knew that I was excited, I had no idea. And I’m very humbled that you guys feel this way.
From Randy, Grady, Jeremy, Shannon, Kinzie, and me, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you. We thank you for believing in us. Thanks for being patient.”
I mean, he couldn’t have been that surprised, right? Either way, it’s nice to see his humility and gratitude towards his longtime fans, and I know excitement will only continue to build as April gets closer.
General ticket on on sale will take place on October 11th:
