The whirlwind romance is shocking to fans and those who used to be romantically involved with Lana Del Rey.
Lana Del Rey took the interwebs by storm over the weekend when Daily Mail broke the news she tied the knot with her alligator tour guide boyfriend, Jeremy Dufrene. After the two celebrated their wedding on a Louisiana bayou, Dufrene’s ex-fiancée spoke out, saying she was completely blindsided to learn the two took their relationship to the next level.

The alligator tour guide’s former partner noted that she, too, learned of their relationship with the public.
“I am in shock because we were engaged for 12 years, and he got married after one month.”
Kelli Welsh, 45, spent over a decade engaged to Dufrene before they parted ways in October 2023. Welsh and Dufrene dated for a brief time in high school and rekindled their romance after Dufrene divorced his first wife. The couple got back together in 2011, and he proposed in 2012.
While she expressed to Daily Mail that she was beyond surprised to hear this news, she was overall happy for her former partner.
“But I am happy for him. He is a very protective, hardworking, manly man. He needed to get out of his comfort zone. He was used to bayou life and being out on the swamp. He is deserving of this blessing.
I will say that he really does look happy with her,’ she said. ‘And she does with him which is a good thing to see. It’s not a fake happy – he truly is in love with her.”
Welsh also told the news outlet that although they did not get their “happy ever after,” she still cares deeply for Dufrene and is happy that he’s found happiness.
“He has always been a giver, so to have someone give to him, he deserves it. He is a very solid guy. I care about him deeply as a friend. His ability to love and care and protect people makes him so attractive.”
Del Rey and Dufrene met years ago when she took one of his guided swamp tour guides in Louisiana. The two rekindled their spark earlier this summer and were publically seen together at the end of August. However, the two denied sharing a romantic connection.
While some fans worry about the authenticity of the relationship due to the quick timeline that got them to the alter, a source told Daily Mail that friends and family put on their investigator caps to ensure he was with her for the right reasons, and he passed with flying colors.
“Her friends and team did some digging on him over fears he could be using her, but his business is lucrative, and he doesn’t need or want Lana’s money. They can see he treats her right and he’s very, very low maintenance. He gives her what she is seeking in a man and is romantic.”
Hopefully, this marriage was made to last. Worried fans should sleep a little deeper at night after hearing Dufrene’s ex-fiancée’s kind words about his character.
