The cover I didn’t know I needed.

Today, Miranda Lambert is a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she of course talked about her new album Postcards From Texas, and they also did a pretty unexpected cover.

Kelly and Miranda performed an acoustic, very country version of Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” which which was included on her massively successful 2023 debut The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. In fact, Chappell has been saying that she plans tot put out a country song very soon, of course it will lean towards the pop in what she describes as “Shania Twain country”:

Chappell Roan is a virally popular artist right now whose star is rising very quickly in the music world, and you’ve probably seen her if you’re online at all and have likely at least heard part of her song “HOT TO GO!”

Anywho, I love what Miranda and Kelly did in terms of putting a very twangy, Texas spin on the very pop, electric tune, and it almost doesn’t even sound like the same song… if I didn’t know the original, I’d probably think it was Kelly or Miranda’s song, and I mean that as a compliment of the highest order.

Even if you don’t love Chappell’s original, I think you’ll really like what they did here:

The original is very different, but extremely catchy nonetheless:

Acts like SilveradaJosiah and the Bonnevilles and even Kacey Musgraves have also covered Chappell’s songs lately, and I’ll be honest, I really love Kacey’s mashup of Chappell’s “Pink Pony Club” with her song “High Horse” she’s been doing on her current Deeper Well tour:
