Not a Swiftie, eh?
Of course it’s no surprise that former President Donald Trump isn’t a big fan of Taylor Swift. The pop superstar endorsed his opponent Joe Biden in 2020, and last night she again threw her hat into the political ring with an endorsement of the Democrat candidate in the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris.
The endorsement was one that Swifties (and Kamala supporters) had been hoping for, especially after the controversy surrounding Taylor’s friendship with Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Brittany and Taylor became friends during the last NFL season when Swift began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two were frequently seen hanging out together at games, and even spending time partying away from the field.
But Swifties recently began calling for Swift to dump her friend after Brittany liked a post from Trump on Instagram, along with some pro-Trump comments on her own post. The former president also recently thanked Mahomes for her support:

Her fans were celebrating after Brittany and Taylor didn’t sit together at the Chiefs opening game last week, but any hopes that Swift had ended the friendship were quickly dashed this weekend when the two were spotted hugging at the US Open, and even going to dinner together afterwards.
Of course Taylor’s endorsement of Kamala wasn’t exactly a surprise, so it’s not like Brittany didn’t know that her friend had different political views than she does.
But regardless, in this hyper-political society, everybody’s expected to pick a side.
And it’s no surprise which side Trump himself is on.
During an appearance on Fox News this morning, Trump was asked about Taylor’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, and it’s not surprising that he’s more of a Brittany Mahomes kind of guy:
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him. But she’s a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.
But no, I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. We got a lot of news last week, she’s a big MAGA fan, that’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift.”
And the GOP nominee also had high praise for Brittany’s husband:
“The wife of the great quarterback. And he is a great quarterback.
I think she’s terrific.”

As for Patrick though, when asked about the praise from Trump, he said he didn’t plan on making an endorsement during the election:
“I don’t want my platform to be used to endorse a candidate…I’ve grown up with people from every aspect of life and every background.”
