We’ll see how that works out for him.
The third-year tight end for the Baltimore Ravens picked up right where he left off last year with a stellar performance in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, picking up 9 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Of course he was disappointed that it wasn’t two touchdowns and a win.
The game ended in thrilling fashion, with the Chiefs up by 7 and the Ravens trying to score in the last minute of the game. And it looked like they had done just that thanks to a tightrope catch from Likely in the back of the endzone.
But on further review, replay clearly showed that Likely stepped on the line as he made the catch and was out of bounds as time expired, giving the win to the defending Super Bowl champions to start off their quest for a three-peat.

Well obviously Likely wasn’t happy about having his game-winning touchdown overturned, and was even caught chirping back at some Chiefs fans who were heckling him on his walk back to the locker room:

But in his postgame press conference, Likely decided to add some more fuel to the Chiefs already-red hot fire by…talking shit about the defending champs. You know, the team that just beat them on the field?
“This is probably the worst game we gonna play all year. So if this their best that they got, I mean, good luck in the postseason.”

Yeah, not a great look. And probably not too smart either. I mean, what makes you think that that wasn’t the worst game the Chiefs are going to play all year too? You think your team’s going to improve over the season but the defending champs won’t?
And while the Ravens won’t meet up with the Chiefs again in the regular season, there’s a pretty good chance that these two teams will have to play each other again in the postseason.
I have a feeling this quote’s going to be on the bulletin board for that matchup. And poking the two-time defending champion bear trying to defend their crown probably isn’t the smartest move.
