WNBA Star Angel Reese Gets Roasted For Announcing A New Podcast To “Clear The False Narratives”

WNBA star Angel Reese is getting in on the podcast game.

That shouldn’t come as much of a shock, considering there’s been a mass movement of professional athletes starting their own podcasts and growing their brand outside of the sport they play. It’s really been lucrative for the Kelce brothers, and virtually every other athlete that has started one up has had some sort of success.

It’ll be interesting to see how sports media evolves with every notable pro athlete starting their own personal podcast. The sports journalism industry has already taken somewhat of a hit recently, when Deion Sanders banned a reporter from attending Colorado Buffalo press conferences. I’d imagine with all the podcasts, athletes will just want to speak through their own outlet, and not through other media entities.

That seems to be a real driving force behind Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese’s decision to start her own podcast. To kick off the announcement of her new show, which she is calling Unapologetically Angel, the basketball star posted a video onto the podcast’s new social media page, and explained in a video what to expect from it:

“We are going to be spilling the tea from our voice, our narrative, our perspective.”

For those uninitiated, “spilling the tea” just means to talk gossip or reveal personal information. Just thought I’d put that out there in case anyone was confused (or in case my dad was reading this).

Reese went on to quote the podcast announcement to provide some more descriptors while simultaneously shouting out the haters, saying:

“Little miss keeps a bag, makes y’all mad, stays in y’all bag, never cared about what y’all say about her, basketball player, model, business women, broadcaster, influencer, and actress, etc. is starting her own podcast! I’m taking my voice back and clearing all the false narratives. I hope y’all ready.”

Unapologetically Angel is set to debut on September 5th, and new episodes will be released every Thursday.

Naturally, people were quick to jump into the comments section, and let’s just say that “maybe work on hitting layups instead of doing a podcast in your rookie season” was the overaching theme of the commentary.
